Title: Gearbox grumble
Post by: BlitzBoy on August 26, 2003, 02:22:47 PM
Guys Starting to get a rumbling noise from the gearbox in neutral, the noise goes away if you depress the clutch or engage a gear, any ideas?

Nice one Fish thats what I suspected, didnt think it was the gearbox itself as I\'ve heard the boxes on these cars are pretty bombproof.
hmmmm might as well change the clutch whilst changing the bearing then, thankgod its not the something more serious.
Any recommendations on performance clutchs considering I will be going single turbo soon? I had a ACT 6 puc clutch on my 300 last year that was pretty good

I\'m at the same point myself. I will have an engine ready at the end of the week, so need to sort a clutch out for that. But also looking at going single some point when the funds are there.

All I do know is, that it aint gonna be cheap. :(

In the meantime I have found out the clutch kit from ACT which will handle a modified RX with up to 500 pounds of torque.
The model is ZX3-HDR6, specs are

This kit will hold up to 514 ft/lbs of torque with an increase clamp load of 40% over stock. This kit comes complete with our Heavy Duty Pressure Plate, 6-Puck Race Disc, release bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Pedal pressure will increase about 10%.

Only just found this post - also trying to get an ACT clutch from the states, maybe a powerbuy - see my thread in the For Sale section...

However, if Blitzboy finds prices as well, I\'d be happy to be in on this buy, if it\'s fairly quick.

Cheerio

Andrew can you find out how much your man will do the ZX3-HDR6?
the extreme plate  will be to harsh an engagement I think its meant to be with the the race disc for torque levels above 500 Ibs

Just got reply - $450 for the 6 paddle clutch (probably somewhere between £285 and £290 depending on paypal exchange rate on the day). Obviously plus shipping.

I\'d like to get a regular one for me asap (before my clutch dies completely). How ready are you?

I\'ll get a total price for both + shipping, pay him with paypal (via credit card), and then you can pay me when we arrange delivery at this end.

It might be easier to arrange by email rather than on this board - I\'ll PM you my email address.

Thanks - got the mails from both of you. Just getting a revised quote off him now. Looks like $440 for 6 paddle, plus third share of $70 delivery, which probably works out at just under £300, which is rather nice IMHO :). Flywheel likely to be $285 (£183ish).
