Took the 20B out of the FD today as the bigger supercharger wont be here until after christmas, so we thought we would treat it to a rebuild as its still the original engine and is a little tired.
Got it out and mostly stripped but cant get get the eccentric shaft out of the centre rotor/housing, the plates either side prevent it from coming out.
Can anybody tell me the \'trick\' to this?
please, pretty please....
The front rotor lobe slides off the shaft. It has threaded holes in it,so make up a puller if it is really stuck.
Cheers Tim,
No doubt Dave will ring you tomorrow, but where are these threaded holes, is there a screw or bolt to remove?
From experience the front extension either:
a) lifts off if with zero effort - if Geff does it!
or
b) doesnt move at all, even if you whack it with some thing heavy or use a puller - i.e. when me and chris do it!!
R.
get the oxy out:)
ah ha, (lightbulb illuminates!) The threaded holes are for the puller.
But what stops it spinning, is it on a spline?
key way ala front pulley
Cheers for all your help Gentlemen, Made up a tool and struggled like mad but got the E Shaft apart in the end. All the housings are like new but the water seals were all in poor shape. Now gonna butcher the inlet manifold with a die grinder. I Forgot how much bigger the secondary ports are on the 20B, still, i\'m sure we can shave a little more meat off them. Be good to get rid of the tiny weeny exhaust sleeves that were still in place, i\'m sure there is no point make two 3 inch exhausts when all the air has to come out those tiny holes. bring on the new super charger.
You truly are fierce for it :god Best of luck mate. :)
Jay
so did the oxy work:) maybe on the exhaust sleeves
no oxy reqd, we wernt brave enough, find its easy P Port with the oxy though.
