Title: My RX finally on the road!!
Post by: mrfitz on October 23, 2005, 03:32:14 PM
Took my RX out for the first time yesterday, it\'s almost finished now.
Has got a new street ported engine (thanks to Carl Hayward) and has just been resprayed.
I\'ve got 2 spoilers but not sure whether it needs one.  What does everyone reckon?

Mark.

800 miles to go!!

The blended side skirts look frickin mint. I recon you should leave it de-spoilered, it looks so smooth!

That looks really really nice.

Looks great without the spoiler.  If you \'must\' put one on maybe stick with a nice smooth round one like the stock jobbies.  Personally I wouldn\'t want a big GT wing spoiling the lines.

Leave it off I say.

Looks good as it is, post a photo from the back so we can see what it looks like spoilerless.

I have a 99 spec one already painted which I do quite like and an older one from a 1994 car.  Some kind of aniversary one, slightly smaller than the standard one.

Haven\'t got any pics of them though.

Noooo dont put the 99 spec one on.....sell that to me !!

Seriously that spoiler is ace and would look good with the aftermarket front and sideskirts !!!

I think it needs a spoiler and some rear skirts.
Regardless you have a very nice car there.

Looks sweet! It\'s not my bag as far as the skirts go, but ha it\'s yours you love it, thats good. If all liked the same thing it would be very very boooring. For me, as the RX has such nice smooooth lines, it should have nice smooth addons. But I know theres a lot of fans out there that love that look. Good luck with it!!!!Don’t wreck it .............. :cheers

Thanks for all the nice comments, I\'ll see how much the local bodyshop want to fit the spoiler and then I\'ll decide!!

Looks the dogs *&$$% mate! Really is impressive, until seeing your car I never thought a Rex without a spoiler would look OK, but for once I\'m tempted to say - leave the spoiler off.

Cheers

I would go for a deep rear diffuser or smooth type lower bumper to match the lines of the sideskirts and then see how it looks without a spoiler.

Very nice job there.  Quality Rex.

Hi Shaq,
Was going but still here....Maybe off to New Zealand to live in the near future but still here for the mo!!
I think I\'m gonna have the 99 spec spoiler put on.  I was after a bit carbon GT wing but want to keep it subtle I reckon.

I like to hear everyones opinion as they are all so varied.  I never thought the spoilerless look would appeal to me but it\'s not too bad after all!
I\'ll try and get some nicer pics if the rain lets up at the weekend.

Thanks everyone,

Mark.

Mark

Really nice job on the side skirts and the front bumper.  I think you should leave it without a spoiler (classy look IMO).  Save the money and get the back to match the rest.  Good luck with it.

I reckon a rear diffuser in carbon, rear gt wing in carbon and a carbon vented bonnet would make yours an exceptional rx7, what you think ??

Hi Jon, thanks for that.  You got yours on the road yet?
I think I need something on the back end but not sure what, may just go for the spats but still have the 99 spec spoiler already painted sitting here staring at me........

Very very nice (you will not hear me say that often)
I am amazed at how small the gaps are between the various panels
The fitment is superb !

PS what are those sideskirts ?

I think the (Gurj\'s?) idea of spats and a rear diffuser would look good.  As for mine, the reworx boys have halved my mpg by sorting out my single set-up just before winter (fun).  I also seem to be spending more money returning the car back to its original looks.  Still too embarrased to show it on here yet, hopefully next summer.  It\'s good to see things coming along given you had to sell alot last time.

Cheers
Jon.

Thanks Riccardo....the skirts are Knightsports....

Jon, you definately want to take it easy over the winter!!  It\'s gutting for me as I sold all my good bits last time as I was planning on moving abroad.  The amount of times I have said "If only I didn\'t sell that"!!  Buy it all over again and throw loads more cash down the drain!
If you have any pics of your new setup, send me one over by e mail.

Cheers Jon,

Mark.
