Title: fumes???
Post by: R32 Nik on August 23, 2003, 08:05:19 AM
I am getting fumes coming into the car, but only when the windows are open. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be????
I\'ve checked the exhaust, no leaks or blows.
filled a hole in the boot compartment (thought it might be coming in there) no better.

I\'ve heard talk of some sort of valve that might be releaing back pressure???????? Is there such a thing? and if so where is it ??????

Getting quite p**ed off now coz I can\'t find the problem.

Any ideas anyone??????

Please.

Nik:confused:

Are you  talking Turbo II or FD? My Turbo II (90) has always suffered from petrol fumes but never exhaust fumes

Have you tried wearing a gas mask? I know of a good second hand wwII mask (Not used), bargain!

Anywho, stay safe, don\'t breathe any in, it\'s bad for you:wiggle

My 13b egi is suffering from petrol fumes in the cabin. I have found fuel dripping from one of the pipes under the dynamic chamber. This dries quickly so check it while the engine is running, If this is the problem. best get it sorted quickly in case of fire. I\'m having fun driving my FD so haven\'t attended to it yet.

Good luck

Eddie

Have a look at your Charcol canistor. It is a black cylindrical container  mounted on your drivers side, in the engine bay. There are two rubber tubes going to the top, and one exiting from the bottom. Follow the two lines across the bulkhead  and check for any splits.
Hope this helps.
