Post by: fletch on October 13, 2005, 12:18:26 PM
Having a bit of trouble with the drivers window. Sometimes when i put the window up on my FD it goes dead slow and sometimes stops part way up. But most of the time its fine. Any ideas of what it could be please guys.

dont want it to get stuck now the winter weather is coming!

take the door card off, remove the switch, take it apart, clean the little metal bit which will fall out with some wire wool or sand paper, put it back together.

this takes about 25 minutes, try this first!!

if not, look for mechanical stopages, but i rekon the above will work, just done mine!!!

Me again!

Just tried what you said mate and its not worked. Took the door card out and removed the switch, took it apart but no metal bit fell out, so wasnt sure which bit to clean, and didnt want to damage the circuits.

The window is slowing down when nearly closed, sometimes stopping. Its like it doesnt have enough power to push the window up. Is this what yours was like?

Mine were like this so I sprayed some silicon spray on the moving bits and on
the runners and now works fine.

Speaking of drivers windows ;) mine is a pain in the ar$e goes down fine but wont go back up :( so obviously the motor and wiring is fine, got to be the switch I presume. How easy does the door card come off? what do I look for?

Don\'t know if this is any help. but.....

My windows doesn\'t open/close at all. I can visibly see the that wiring is damaged between the inner wing and the door, so I know the problem is here. Might be worth checking your wiring isn\'t being pinched by the door slam.

Don\'t forget, gravity is helping it down so the motor may be marginal... does it go up if you give it a hand by pulling it whilst operting the switch?

I\'ll give the silicone spray a try and have a good look at the wiring.

And getting the door card off is easy, just three srews round the edges, and one inside the door, where the door lock is under the little flap, and the rest is just clipped in.
