Title: bargain rx7!!!
Post by: spagram on October 07, 2005, 05:01:05 PM
a mate has just bought a black 92 type r with 65000 miles, had  an rx motors rebuild about 5000miles ago, hks exhaust, mazdaspeed induction kit, HKS bov.
He bought it for £3000 as the guy said there was a problem with the cooling system. I checked it over and the ast cap and filler cap where the wrong way round! we changed the coolant, bled the system & all is well. did a compression test and got figures between 7.7 & 8 bar! what a bastard, 3 grand!

I guess some people are just lucky in life :)
Tell your mate to get a lottery ticket this weekend as well :rollin (but if he wins he has to give 10% to the MRC)

i have seen cheaper cars pass thru peoples hands ( with 9\'s on all 3 faces )

did you see the car and know the problem and then buy it - or was it a bit of a gamble

Went and had a look at it assuming it would need a rebuild & for £3000 it wouldnt be bad even if it did but as soon as i started checking it over i realised the caps were the wrong way round! luckily the guy had stoped as soon as the warning buzzer came on so it didnt seriously overheat! How the caps got swaped around i dont know, the guy had only had it a couple of months and had paid £5500 for it!
The cars a little scruffy inside but outside & mechanically its mint!

That soo cool. Right now I am in a deal buying an 94(American Model, because I am in the US) for 4k. Why so low the person that owns it is in the UK shipping is included in the price. The guy is trying to get rid of it because it is a fortune to register it cause it is the US model(left side drive). Doing it through a legit escrow company. So going to be cool.

yea sounds good to me. I looked online and now there are 2 other ones for sale one going for 6k and I just got an email replying to me about that one. He says that he had to move back to italy cause of work but the car is located at an autotrader facility in dever, colorado. Autotrader will be in charge of that transaction. If you want to know more just tell me so I can forward you the information. And the other one I saw was one going for 4k also says he is located in LA autotrader profile.  :3gears-rh  :3gears-lh

So it turns out that the deal was a fake. I found the same car on ebay with the pictures the guy sent me and the same VIN number and the car is located in the last place it was registered(Texas) and the excuse the Fraud guy told me was that it costed a lot to register it in the UK cause it being a US model(left hand drive) but in actuality was in the US so the last place it was registered was there. I found out by me being a big RX7 fanatic looking on ebay seeing what they had for sale and came upon the car. and looked at the VIN number and pictures both being the same the fraud seller gave me. Sucks I will not be an owner of an RX-7 for awhile but still got motivation to get one by looking and reading about your guys cars.

i thought it sounded a bit suspicious, a us spec car imported to the uk & then exported back to the us? If i where you i\'d avoid any sort of sale where the car is in another country, there seem to be alot of these con artists around at the moment. Good luck with buying an rx anyway.

Yea when its too good to be true it is. O well I am going to try to get a person I know with really really good credit to co-sign for me for this CYM R1 here. Might be the real price but I guess Thanks for the luck. Ill post some pictures of it later to hear your opinions on it.
