Title: Any advise from you petrol heads?
Post by: fletch on October 02, 2005, 08:06:49 PM
Need some advice from rex owners please.

Since the winter weather has started to arrive i\'ve noticed my rex has started to act strange. When i start the little beauty up from cold she starts first time, but is reving really high at around 2000rpm. Also when im driving the girl she has a tendancy to run away with me! Not that im a crap driver, just that when she is cold and im not pressing down on the gas pedal she is increasing her speed. do you think it could be the auto choke? if she has one! And when im braking she is not too keen to slow down, its like the engine is not slowing down, just racing on. Also when i pop her into neutral at the lights etc she starts reving high! Please help!

Any and all advice would be appreciated because im still learning about these beautiful machines!

Sell that car and buy a real car where you can set the idle by means off a screwdriver, not with a laptop... :D

The Mazda RX-7 - the car that wants to go faster!  :D

I borrowed a god awfull 16 year old 626 - choke on that was a laugh - used to rev at 2,500 for the first 5 mins - first got me when I went through a tight corner, came off the brakes and off she went!! woah!  :D

Anyway sorry - It does sound like is trying to go faster (poor braking, over revving etc.)  Sorry I cant be any help and im rambling (its probably something to do with 3 hours sleep    )

Start her up in 1st gear with the clutch depressed and the auto warm up system will not cut in and the revs will not go so high when the engine is cold. :)
