I\'m mounting a universal FMIC tomorrow, and was wondering where the fixing points are for my bumper. It\'s a 92 FD. (could prob work it out tomorrow, but will save time if anyone knows (just lazy of me really lol)
Many Thanks
Mark
Straight forward really- open bonnet and 4 bolts along top of bumper.
loads under the bumper(joining plastic tray), dont forget the one holding number plate(if front centrally mounted).
And finally joining front wing- going up vertically into wing(phillips head screws, rest are 10mm bolts if I remember correctly!)
Hope that helps
Rich
Thanks a lot mate, appreciate it!
Has anyone ever tried routing piping without re angling the rad or moving the aircon system?
Mark
there are a couple more joining the wings to the bumper on the corners of the car if that makes sense (remove arch liner and you can just see them
Dependant on size of IC I would say you will have no chance  Not only that you will most likely have to cut away some of the structural bumper for it to fit that is without modifing your power steering cooling pipe and all the other bits and bobs, Im afraid your cost dont stop at buying a cheap IC, have you purchased all relivent hard pipes and connectors, thought about what this will do to your boost and how you are going to controll it, thought about maybe an after market ecu?? Dont get me wrong I am only trying to help but from your post I think maybe you have not thought this through. hth :D
Good advise from John ;)
Dean, damn always forget them lil\' ones, can be abit of a sod to get out, if they\'ve been sprayed over(paint).
Best thing to do if you havent got all the parts is get the bumper off tomorrow anyway- you\'ll know what to do next time and will be nice \'n easy. Also you\'ll see exactly what needs moving and sorting to finish the job ;)
Always find makes life alot smoother to have a good plan of action and all the parts before you get to stuck in and the cars left in peices on the drive :p
Cheers Rich
To remove the nuts and bolts from the nose to the wings i found the best way was to \'pop up\' the lights, remove the surround to enable you to squeeze your hand through to hold against the nuts [10mm] 3 on each side.

I have an Apexi Power FC ready to be mapped by Pip at WGT, an can have a company in Sheffield who are going to make the custom pipes for me, so that is not a problem.
With regards to boost, I can see that it it going to take longer to compress the air within a larger system, but am hoping that the cooling effect of the FMIC will overcome this negative effect.
No one Ever intends to crash a car. and TBH I am not bothered about slightly reducing the crash properties of the vehicle as If I do unfortunately crash the car I am sure that it will be at a speed that my bumper could not have prevented.
Thanks for all your help again
Mark
I got it to fit! :cool
But have a major problem with where to route the pipes. anyone got any ideas? the pipes are at the bottom corners of the cooler, in front of the oil coolers, as I see it, the chassis, lights an washer bottles are in my way. how do the others like the blitz/ HKS get run?
Only possible way I can see is to take the pipes back on themselves behind the cooler, and then go up through where the ducting is for the stock one (over the top of the rad). this will mean flattening the pipes somewhat, but the company who are making the pipes assured me today that this will not be a problem, an that they can do it smoothly so not to disrupt flow.
Anyone got any helpfull Ideas, hints or tips?
Cheers
Mark
For every 90 degree angle you reduce the air flow by approx 20% flattening the pipe in my mind is a big no no. Without pictures this is quite hard to work out, surely if you up-ended you IC and turned it back to front you would have your exit pipes at the top and facing the engine, or have I read your post wrong again :eek

Usefull information that, thanks. Can\'t get any pics up at the mo, coz my cams broke, but the cooler is a similar design to this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intercooler-wrx-evo-pulsar-gt4-s14-cosworth-skyline-rx7_W0QQitemZ8002548978QQcategoryZ72205QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
The pipes come straight out either side of the intercooler. so turning it back to front would make no difference, if I up ended it, the pipes would come out in fronf of the lights instead of in front of the oil coolers where there is even less space. I know flattening is not an Ideal solution, but If I don\'t flatten the pipes then any Ideas on which route to take?
Thanks
Mark
