Title: What thread size is my Gear stick?
Post by: G@NDY on September 30, 2005, 09:53:01 AM
I sent an email to buddy club as i really like one of their ranges of skift knobs ;) and the RX7 wasnt listed so i wondered if they had a universal one or if they could find one near enough i could hammer it on :yes i was surprised to get an email back very quick but me having a small brain they have confused me here is part of the email:

As the buddyclub knobs are specifically threaded for the model of car, If you can find out what thread your stick is we might have one in stock to fit it.

We think it is M10x1.25 which we have in stock .

 now if they had asked me the diameter of the top thing, i could have done that, Can anyone help me out PLEASE, i will be your best friend.
I do have a B&M short shift, and momo gear knob at the minute, but this must still be the same as original?

 Fingers crossed, Regards Andy

Oh dear, just phoned up demon tweeks because thats where the previous owner bought the short shift, and i asked them what thread i had on it, and was surprised to find out that it doesnt have any on, and the gear knob on at present is held in by screws, so i do feel silly now, and annoyed that i cant have the knob that i wanted :( has anyone else using B&M ? and is it case now we are limited to the brands of knob that we can use???

Surely you could just use a die to put a thread on the stick? I can\'t see why not. Take the current gear knob off and have a look. If you are friendly with a local mechanic see if you can borrow a die for a couple of seconds.
