Just been out to start the car when i noticed after i turned the ignition on the fuel gauge wasnt reading correctly as it should and i hear a hissing sound a which point i get a sinking feeling. :reallymad
Pop the bonnet and its leaking fuel from under the UIM. I tryed turning the ignition back on to try and see were its leaking but the gauge now reads correctly and no noise from the leak. :xconfused
Anybody any ideas were it could be from, looks like to me from the fuel rails but with out taking things off i dont know for sure.
Is it possible i have a knackered injecter seal? If so will i have to buy a new one or just the seal?
Also how hard is it to remove the UIM? (any help with this would be appreciated)
Heres a pic of the where the leak appears to be coming from.
Forgot to mention i have the KGParts secondary fuel rail and 1600cc injectors.
Cheers Scott
I have fuel leak issue with my kgparts secondary injector kit also. Mine come from the holes the secondary injectors are in, because the injectors are not seating properly.
Did you use any kind of sealant when you installed the kit on the bango bolt and fuel pipe joints etc? if not they will leak no matter how hard you tightened them.
The rail and injectors were fitted by one of the vendors above^ so im not sure if any kind of sealant was used!?
The kit has been fitted for well over a year now with no problems apart from fuel leaking from the fuel regulator when first installed.
At the moment i need to get at the injectors/rail but still unsure how to take the UIM off, already done a search but to no avail

I have another Q, when you turn your ignition on your fuel pressure gauge shots straight up to pressure. Now if you leave the igntion on (with out turning the engine over) and look at the fuel pressure should it subside?
Because this has been happening to mine since day 1, not sure if this is the norm. Just racking my brains and its got me thinking, have i always had this problem and its got worse????

Hello Scott,
The fuel pressure will drop after the pump has primed. Absolutely nothing to worry about there. Sometimes you\'ll get pretty scary sounding noises when the rail pressurises (sp?) that are nothing to worry about either. Check to make sure that you are definately loosing fuel, rather than it just returning to the tank via the return line. If you get a friend to turn the ignition to ON (not starting the engine) and take a close look at the fittings (might be a good idea to wear goggles). If any fittings are damp, remove the battery and undo filler cap from tank to let any pressure out. Clamp the supply line (not the one conected to the fuel pressure regulator). Undo the offending fitting(s), make dry, apply PTFE tape and refit. Test for leaks.
To remove the UIM; disconect the throttle cable, unclip the Trottle Position Sensor conector, the Air Temp Sensor conector(on underside of UIM (blue)) and the Throttle By-pass Valve conector. Remove the water pipe to the throttle body. Remove earth strap to bulkhead from lifting eye. Remove earth strap from loom to lifting eye. Disconect vacume hoses and servo hose. Remove 5 bolts from LIM end and 1 bolt from under throttle body. Lift UIM up to reveal water pipe under throttle body, disconect water pipe and lift UIM away. Refitting is the reverse of removal.
At least petrol isn\'t that expensive.... *cough!*
You can bridge between thr F/P & Gnd on the diagnostic port to get the Fuel Pump to run continually (paper clip worx fine). Then check under the UIM to see if you can see any fuel squirting out. You should be able to smell it if it is. Worse case is that its squirting down onto the engine. Mine pooled down there!
Cheers
Jon
Cheers Matt your break down of how to remove the UIM really helped me out!
