Title: 1/24 scale FD3S
Post by: Kron on September 21, 2005, 05:18:58 PM
Hey everyone, Im new here and am looking to pick up a 3rd gen seven around the start of next year when I\'ve saved enough.

I\'ve been looking at certain Japanese sites for as much info and ideas as possible when I stumbled across a site showing these new die cast models and thought it might be of interest to a few of you.

They are retailing for the equivalent of around £25 and there are a few more models coming soon if I\'ve translated it right.

If you could find me a plastic 1/32 scale, preferable kit form,  I would be very happy!

Shame they can\'t get the data right! It says on the packaging 1991! The FD didn\'t come out at the earliest till 1992!

Here\'s a handbook from a 91 RX7:

must be a few of them about as I\'ve seen October and November \'91 books so far.

Also found a few more variants of the models:

Vertex: (uses a watch battery for working headlights)

I can recommend the HotWorks 1/24 scale. Very good

I have started on the Jada 1:18 scale ones.
They arent that scale but they look cool.
Modified one to wide body.

I have so many models now..

Thats a good collection, I have the JADA DRFT one, fitted the CF hood and the VOLK rims  :D

Want to get some more, I\'ll put them on my shopping list LOL

I\'ve been looking at these, they\'re really nice models. Other than the Jada ones where\'s a good place to get them? Shipping on ebay always seems a little extortionate.

...then I\'ll progress to a real one ;)

The Jada stuff i have is good to a point, Not really scale though.
about 1:18. FD is bigger than GTR??

Initial D FD comes with Redsuns figures
Initial D GTR comes with Knight Kids Figures
both - Customised to take the Jada wheels from the other cars

Cwest ORC FD
Cwest ORC FD - Customised to white RE-A Wide body.
DRFT FD
Work FD - With camber adjust. ride height not adjustable. a bit too high

Endless Supra
Apexi Supra

They ranged in price so much since some of the large American places K-Mart flooded the market.
$129AUD-$25AUD but I never bought any off ebay

I also bought a 1/24 Jada GTR but its so NOT 1/24 more like 1/20
It doesnt fit in my 1/24 Plastic collection at all.

Hi folks,

While we are on the subject of models has anyone ever seen a kit for the RE Amemiya AC037 front end?

I know its a long shot, but would make me a happy lad! :D

Sorry dude,

I havnt seen anything,

My list is fairly up to date as of last year. there have been a few additions.
http://www25.brinkster.com/Rextreme/Rextreme_Model_List.htm

To make your own you would need an FD model and a porsche 911 (993)
It would be pretty easy to make if you had the time.

I saw a guy on a forum who built one. but the pics have been removed.
Some of my models are custom. I am still improving.
http://www25.brinkster.com/REXTREME/REXTREME_Models.htm

Currently building a 1:18 pan speed replica and a Greddy 9 replica.

Bloomin heck guv, you are busy!!!

How do you form the parts?  Is it filler on top of the kit once it\'s made up, or individual self molded parts?

Looks hard!!!

Yep Busy.

The 1:18 cars are metal so there is a combination of filing / hacksaw and grinding dremmel work,
Then out comes the "Plasti-bond Builder" (like body filler) but easily sandable.
Just custom carved and moulded from reference pics and my eye.

The greddy 9 replica is turning out to be a bit more difficult building the front than I expected. But its coming along.

Sometimes I dont touch them for a month. then its just hour after hour
Not having a real FD at the moment is frustrating though.

Just got a couple of kits off ebay - what\'s the best way to paint the bodyshells?

I guess aerosols would melt the plastic.

It depends, I used to paint plastic models and enamels in aerosols are fine! Enamel and acrylic paints should be fine.
