Title: Rusty discs
Post by: craigr on September 19, 2005, 04:36:24 PM
Hi all,

I am fed up with having rusty looking disc bells ruining the look of my car. I bought Black Diamonds on the understanding that the coating is rust-proof, but have since found out that there is no guarantee that they will not rust - and mine are proof-positive that this is the case. It\'s a pity all the ads seem to say otherwise.

I could sand them and paint them and mess around, or alternatively I could replace them with something that does not rust. Does anyone have any experience of other makes (Endless, Hi-Spec, etc, etc) that are alternative options that WILL NOT RUST !

Cheers in advance, Craig

At the end of the day, anything made out of mild steel, or low grade stainless is going to rust, theres not much you can do about it. The only thing I can recommend it to paint them, it doesnt have to be in a garish colour either, matt black exhuast paint should keep them looking good and wont get baked off by the heat from the brakes either.

Yeah I know what you mean - rusty discs do look pants.

Other car manufacturers seem to be able to produce a disc that does not rust and I\'m not talking about ceramic. The rears on an FD are the worst since there is so much rust potentially on show.

Any other aftermarket disc?
