Oh no mate!! Hope your ok. Looks like a nasty bang you\'ve had there, and after sending so much time and effort on the car.  :( What happened mate.

I\'m good, my pride is in intensive care on a drip of 100cc\'s of compliments and pats on the back per hour.

No excuses, im a silly boy and I smashed my lovely car into a wall \'cos i was driving too fast. Back went one way and I didnt catch it, hello wall.

Just thought i would let you see the gory pictures, dont worry its not too bad i\'m hoping and will all be fixed very soon. Will need some new graphics though.

Well as long as your ok mate. Cars can be fixed and all that.
Hope you can get it back up and running again soon. Plus it gives you a chance to try out some different graphics maybe :)

Bit of elbow grease and some T-cut will see you right as rain :D
Out of interest, how fast, what kind of \'private\' road and was it wet or dry?
Title: Oopsie....
Post by: Brett on September 19, 2005, 02:37:47 PM
By the way, moocho respect for admitting you were going too fast. :yes I think we\'ve all had lucky escapes from driving at the wrong speed, for most people its a bit of a wake up call.  I\'m gutted you happened to find an inconviently placed wall though :(

Ok i was doing a u turn round a roundabout and edging the back out a teensy bit like i have done many times before and it just snapped and i lifted off and steered into it (whoops) so it snapped the other way and headed for the nearest wall. Whole thing was executed at under 30mph luckily, and if i hadn\'t hit the wall it was 25feet down to the M27 below so im quite glad it was there.

The engine started afterwards no probs, fan was slapping against something but that was it, it has discharged itself now due to a short circuit somewhere.
Wheels are fine, suspension looks ok, intercooler may need some tlc, strangely enough, ALL the lights are still working!
four new body panels, slam panel, few odds and sods and hopefully it will be ok....

Waiting for insurers to take it away and tell me if it will live again.

I have a horrible pessimistic doom-type feeling that they will say something like,
\'oh Mr Verge i\'m afraid we found a non-standard nut holding your exhaust mount on, it was not declared so we can\'t cover you, sorry\'

I won\'t stop worrying until they rubber stamp the repairs to be honest. fingers crossed.

If you need an \'independant professional\' quote for replacing the graphics let me know.

Not being funny, but don\'t tell them you did it yourself. I recon about £600.00 for the front half should cover it don\'t you?

Blimey first time i\'ve seen this. Thank god your ok and hopefully it will be fixed easily. Just do a search on body repairs. One of the company on here can do the work for you and is insurance friendly.

Its already been carted off to an \'approved repairer unfortunately\' so we will see what goes on. the guy who picked it up reckoned it was a write-off but i can\'t believe that, stupid trailer-monkey.
Wish i had read the advice from you guys sooner, hope i haven\'t doomed my car!

John, i\'m going to let the graphics go i think, they werent stated as a mod which they may have had to have been in order to get cover on them, so i took them off before the winch-man turned up.

Just seen this. What can I say that\'s not been said mate. Damn.
Glad to hear you are unhurt though, thats the most important thing at these times.
Fingers crossed for the repair.

Good idea dan...alltho i cant see how it would effect your cars peformance etc, but insurance comps are generally arseholes in this situation

Such a shame......lets hope it all works out dude :)

Gutted for you Dan, glad you are ok. If the car is a write off make sure you get it back as you can break it, engine alone has got to worth a few bob. If you need anyone with a few spanners just call.

sorry to hear / see that Dan , seen your car at Combe the other week was looking very sexual

Post by: dandan on September 21, 2005, 08:22:32 AM
Daverey, if the car ends up back with me, you better get used to seeing my garage \'cos i\'ll need some help!

freshly rebuilt engine (that is fine by all accounts) thats got to be worth a couple thou?
wheels, suspension, wing, brakes, interior, dials, its all in great nick, its just the chassis that might be gone, everything else is certainly sellable.

Yeah it could have been much worse, but against the obvious evidence, I\'m a pretty sensible person so I was only giving it a bit of stick because the road was empty of all traffic and pedestrians.

Oh No!! Just seen this thread and I\'m glad your ok, fingers crossed the insurers say it\'s repairable. Your car was looking excellent with the stickers on aswell.... oh well back to the drawing board, you have a new design in mind?

Big respect for being honest about how it happened and not using the old \'diesel on the road\' excuse!

aah diesel on the road, that was it!!

more like slow as you like service from the insurance company. I rang them last night, as they have had the car 6 days now, and they said their \'system was down\' so i;ll try again tonight. Thats it so far.

insurance company took 2 months to come and inspect my car...couldnt believe it...luckily the other bloke had admitted full liability so I had a hire car but overall it was just a joke. Friend at work is in same boat, has been waiting over 2 weeks now.

Hope you have more luck than us Dan, I have heard the opposite for other people with inspectors coming out straight away so sounds like luck of the draw.

Any thoughts for the new graphics?

Good luck getting your sorted Dan. I\'m in the same boat at the moment.
Least we both walked away from it which is the main thing.
All the best.

Rich  :)

Well the car has been inspected, by a bit of an enthusiast by the looks of things, they have noted all the uprated bits and bobs in the engine bay that i wasnt aware of when i bought the car and so haven\'t yet got round to, er, declaring on the insurance. I should have a letter from an underwriter to reply to when i get home, the way i see it i didn\'t mod it, and i didn\'t know about it immediately so depending how harsh the insurance co are, ill try and get the benefit of the doubt. worst case is I end up with it back with me and ill have to break it to all you lovely people. Brand new rebuilt engine, anyone?

Post by: tr1cky on September 28, 2005, 07:13:44 PM
Fingers crossed Dan!

Hope it turns out alright for you.

If the worst does happen though, be sure to let me know, few bits I could take off your hands!

Not being a circling vulture, HONEST!

Er, hope that \'diesel on the road\' bit wasn\'t aimed at me Ben!!!!!!
Title: Oopsie....
Post by: Freddy on September 28, 2005, 07:59:53 PM
Where I would be interested in the engine, I would rather you DONT BREAK IT!

Seriously, the damage doesnt look too bad. New bonnet, bumper and wings??

You can have the bumper from me FOC with indicator lights. It\'s already in black too.  :)
Title: Oopsie....
Post by: Initial-D on September 28, 2005, 09:14:42 PM
Sorry Tim! No it wasn\'t aimed at anyone and is a bit of joke - sorry if anyone took it as a poke at them! :)

Hope things are progressing in your favour Dan! I could deffo put you in touch with someone to put it right methinks but you\'d be looking at a minimum of 1K - so it\'d be cheaper through the insurance I\'m sure.
Title: Oopsie....
Post by: dandan on September 28, 2005, 09:18:38 PM
Seriously freddie? free bumper? Well if it ends up back in my hands maybe i will get it looked at to estimate the cost of repairs, I might be able to borrow the money in advance of selling it once fixed, and a free bumper would help!

It would definately have to be sold once fixed though, and the market isn\'t great right now by all accounts. We shall have to see if I get right royally shafted by the insurance people.

Oh the messes I manage to get myself into!

dandan, one tip I have for you is to gather up half a dozen adverts from AutoTrader with cars of the same spec/age/price etc to send off the your insurance company.
When I wrote off my GT4 Elephant just sent me a cheque out without even consulting me for £2000 when I had only just paid £4000 for the car.
I managed to get another £2000 out of them by sending in a load of adverts for vehicles that were the same spec etc..
Good luck mate.
