Title: pop up headlights.
Post by: borgue on September 18, 2005, 10:33:58 AM
Am having problems getting the headlights to go down.

They go up no problems and are not sticky.

Have tried:

Column switch
Washer sw
Fuses
Fuses in engine bay near battery

Any one had this before? Working my way round checking connections now...

Any help greatly appreciated!

Ollie.

my 84 had the same prob, you have to discconect the power to the lights, then you have to sync the motors,i.e.the manual overide...(big knobs to turn up and down),make sure the connections are clean, lubed, and wires out the way connect up and test, its a bitch cos sometimes you get one going down and one staying up....its all in the sync

ran out of time today.

i had this fault when i took my dashboard out on sat. i was testing the lights with the high beam, and then they wouldn`t go down, they switched off but stopped up. It turned out i forgot to connect the winter switch by the speedo that makes them pop up but not illuminate. Its worth a try just to see if this is connected properley.

It may be worth checking if they are going over there travel limit, without having looked at one I cant say, biut on my old 86 celica one lamp unit was over adjusted and would occassionally travel past its stop, meaning the unit would never retract.
Will they retract if you manually wind them in 10% and then reapply power?
