Title: water injection washer bottle
Post by: SCOOMER on September 15, 2005, 10:31:56 PM
Hiya,

Im installing a aquamist water injection kit in the near future but i cant figure out were to store the water in the engine bay. Not really sure if the aquamist pump is strong enuff to draw the water from the boot if i stored it their so i was thinking about using the windsreen washer bottle?

Is this viable and has anbody tryed and tested?

Cheers Scott

pump shd be strong enough make sure it is lower than the tank in the boot to help with flow..lots of scooby owners run a tank in the boot and aquamist pump

Run mine from the washer bottle, only prob is it empty\'s it very quickly [like 2 laps of the Ring] and you are likely to draw all the sediment in the tank into your injector/ spray :flamed

Ed, have you got any pics of your water tank, just wondering about the location?

Dont really want to use the washer bottle if it runs out quickly. Mite have enuff room for a tak in the engine bay once ive got round to relocationg the battery to the boot.

STOPPPPPPP  ( Said in a famous beer accent ). :rollin  :flamed

Get hold of the rear washer bottle from a UK spec FD, remove Jap Import one which is tiny and fit the UK spec one. It\'s a bit of a fiddly job but the UK spec one is massive and it does fit as all bolt points are there. You will have to block off various pipes/pumps on the Uk one and you won\'t have the use of your rear washer system, but who cares. The Uk one takes about 4+ litres and you then fit the pump in the boot to the left hand side as you view the boot open. If I have time this weekend I can take some pics for you. :cool

Another tip, if you have access to rain water use that to put in the washer bottle as it will not cause any build up of deposits on/in your injector. If you are going to use concentrated meth/screen wash in the system then don\'t use any mixture above 25% meth and mix it correct before putting it in the washer bottle. Also if you go down that line make sure you have it in the washer bottle when you are having the engine mapped on the rolling road.

you can keep the rear washer with the UK spec bottle.. unscrew the pump from the jap bottle, screw it to the UK bottle, lengthen original wires and tube and off you go :)

ERL recommend that if running over a longer distance, to install a primmer/helper pump.

I had this setup on my scoob.

As you can see in pic two the in boot rear black cover is shown. The UK spec washer bottle extends both sides  past the fitting edges of this cover.
I\'ve got the feed and return coming out of the top of the filler cap, others do it into the side of the bottle, I did it that way as I did not want any fluid slopping about and coming out of the holes in the side of the bottle neck. HTH. :cheers
