Hiya,
Just installed my FEED engine brace, only took 5mins if that to fit :cool
I havent driven it since fitting so not sure it makes much difference yet
Anyway heres a few pics
Scott
You\'ll notice the differences straight away !!!!!
Makes gear changes so much smoother. :yes
Where did you get it mate and how much ?
Bulla
Can I ask where you got it from ? I\'ve seen it in a couple of places, but cost seems high.
You can get copies that are just as good but obviusly not badged feed from ebay motors here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-97-RX7-RX-7-FD3S-MOTOR-ENGINE-TORQUE-DAMPER_W0QQitemZ8000204200QQcategoryZ46098QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and they ship to the UK still works out a lot cheeper.
You\'d buy from someone with these T&C\'s??

blimy seem strong conditions but if the products fine then no probs is there?
might have to invest, getting into 4th gear when your nailing it doesnt go down too well on my motor
Call me shallow, but the quality on those doesn\'t appear to be particularly good. Not sure it\'s worth paying another £140 for the FEED badge, however ??
I got mine off ebay, nothing wrong with the quality at all, ordered a set of pulleys at the same time, again unbranded but nothing wrong with the quality, sure its nice to have Feed,HKS,Blitz parts, but when moneys tight what option do you have.
well tidy engine bay you have there Nix :)
I got it from Re Works.
Was a bit disapointed with it really as i was asuming it was a shock absorber but no its just a rod with a nylon bush inside the blue tube.
Scott
Cheers Dave :) will look even better when i get all the alloy pipe so i can lose the horrid flexi pipes.
Scott, i agree mate, when mine arrived i thought it would be a proper shocker not a pair of nylon bushes.
just thinkin to my self about these,
cos i got solid engine mounts i dout 1 of these would do any thing,
mayb just for looks what do u think,
I got mine off ebay too. They sent through MX5 braces too which were obviously incorrect, however they sent out replacements free of charge with no quibble and let me keep the old MX5 braces... I was extremely happy with it and it does the job...
H
I have one,
I think the best advantage is that it will stabilize the engine block, as i imagine most engine mounts will be a little shagged out! :p
When looking at the engine on tick over, there\'s definitely less engine movement and on acceleration, the gear stick moves less.
OK, it looks nice too! :)
Pete
Tryed it the other day and gave it a good thrashing, yes theirs less engine movment but you can hear a little bit of vibration through the body. I\'ve read some people place a rubber strip between the damper and body but i think this is defeating the object.
Anyway im happy with it as is.
Scott
The piston length determines the solidity-the noise, which i get, is between the end rings and the bolts, so a piece of suitable "rubber", wouldn\'t effect it\'s performance..or maybe i\'m talking thru me ane!! :evillaugh
I swallowed the bullet and bought one from ebay. Have fitted it, and it appears to match the pics on this thread. I do get a rather nasty metallic rattle every now and then at idle and when I shut the car down.
I\'ve double checked tightness on all bolts, and it clears all surrounding bodywork/components. Does anyone have a similar problem ?
Hi Craig,
I\'ve concluded that even if you tighten it to the max, you\'ll still get this "rattle"-nothing to do with it\'s effectiveness, just the end bits rattling-I\'m going to get some cushioned nylon o-rings-B&Q plumbing section i believe!! :D
Saying that, i\'ve got use to it!
Pete :guinness
I have one on my rex too It used to rattle, so I lengthened it with adjustment and it\'s silent always now. Just need to adjust it till it stops rattling.
These are good for stopping your engine flexing the drive train when accelerating hard - so will help preserve the power frame under the car, which can crack and eventually snap at the rear from too many hard starts...
I\'ve had mine go once, so in addition to a new uprated power frame, I got this brace, RE Amemiya uprated engine and diff mounts (Harder rubber - not solid alloy) - not had a problem since. :)
We supply this brace inexpensively too - see //www.neweraparts.com :D :D
so a quick question - how do you adjust it ? I tightened everything up as much as possible and still had to push the engine block over a tad in order to get the 2nd bolt to fit in. I have added some O Rings (good suggestion) and things appear to have quietened down a bit.
Cheers, Craig
Undo the locknut, then turn the "damper" body whist holding the shaft in place. Not sure if you have to have one end disconnected, maybe.

Going to fit my FEED Torque Brace tomorrow (finally) and wondered who has added rubber or nylon O rings and exactly where you fitted them?
I\'m guessing between the body and the bracket?
Where did you get the O rings from?
& How tight should I tighten it, I\'m assuming it will begin to push the engine over but I don\'t want to \'over do it\'?
Thanks for your help!
My tourqe brace annoys the **** outta me. Gotta find some way of stopping the rattling
Exactly, I want to avoid this as much as possible!
mine rattles and really annoys me, even though it\'s really tight, so i have put 2 large rubber washers (from Halfords) between the bolt on each end and the body. works a treat. they come in a small plastic box and would normally be used to line holes in panels but still aloowing you to put something through the hole. :driving
Thanks, I will try this.
Just discovered that my alarm switch for the bonnet uses one of the holes for the bracket aaarrrggghhhh, more hassle moving that then.
I cut a bit of rubber pipe, took the bolt out of one end and put it between one end of the swively bit and the mount, bolt back in. The brace does not twist at all now and it is silent.
