Title: best diff
Post by: rx jamie on September 14, 2005, 02:45:44 PM
which would be the best diff to be running on a car with 400 - 450 bhp @ the wheels. shot in some overtime this week so im gonna buy it next week. needs to be something that can be reliable on the strip but from time to time when the truck isnt available i may need to drive it to events.

Or Kaaz
Either way, they are all less refined than the stock one - I\'d try before you buy, find a mate with one and go out for a ride :)

the two way can be interesting! Would advise a 1.5 way the are much more compliant to every day driving. yes they make noise when the oil is warm and the backend off the car can feel like it is falling off. But they are stronger and can take the abuse. I am pretty sure that most high powered cars on here are running them (except brian, He just breaks and replaces) they are good for track and strip. Just rember to change oil to the time scale that the makers states.

Get onto the Aussie site or evn in the UK (?),look for a Ford Fairmont GT,this diff can be narrowed and splines cleaned up and assembled, new hangers can be manufactured and you got a virtually indestruckable(sp) diff......these diffs handle up to 800 horses before they let go....going old school you can try and source an old Detroit Locker diff from the States, very old school but you can play with ratios and wont comprimise your ride feel at all.........they come standard with 32 splines....

lol
To be honest I been in cars with Kaaz diff, cusco, diffs and I couldn\'t handle the noise and banging on the road it\'s awful. give a stock one anyday.
A strengthened pp frame, a good diff brace, a good suspension, a good set of diff mounts, regualr oil changes and you can launch consistently at 7,000rpm without killing a diff. Knowing my luck i\'ll probably kill one big time on Oct 9th
But so far so good, no dead diffs in over 1 year :p
