Title: aftermarket body kits

Do they do anything  bar inhancing the cars looks?
I\'v been talking with some friends about them  and we realy can\'t work it out,do they help the air flow over the car or do they just create drag ?
Aftermarket spoilers do they work as well or just sit there and look good and not work as they should at hi speeds(not talking race /drag spoilers) but the fancy 1\'s you might see at a show.

i\'m thinking that they don\'t do anything not unless a tuning race comp has made it for there cars,+ ya never see any1 down the drag/race track with 1 on just normal car maby race spoiler and thats it.

          does any 1 know ??????

Craig, body kits can offer two bits to help a rotary.

1, Better down force as higher speed. Down force at speed = stability.
2, After market bonnets should have some form of coolin vents. This helps the life of the engine.

As for the rear spoilers you get two types, those that look good and those that work.

The ones that look good are normally the cheaper units that have little or no adjustment in them. Those that have the adjustment and that are high enough to be caught be the air flow over the car work, but these units are usually at the higher price range.

I have a Cusco unit on the rear of my FD, and whilst driving at Bedford Autodrome last year with it as flat as possible I felt that I had better high speed (100+ mph) grip, when it was adjusted fully up, the grip level increased from about 80 mph, but I had a banging noise from it about 130 mph.

Also alot of the after market front bimpers have larger air intakes for the oil coolers and for a front mount intercooler.
