Title: Should I see much difference?
Post by: nikp on September 12, 2005, 10:50:09 AM
I have just fitted an efini y-pipe to replace my plastic jobby with rubber connector. This was mainly done for reliability, and to look better than black plastic! But i have heard that it\'s slightly more efficient - i was just wondering whether anyone knows whether i would expect to notice anything perceivable from this mod? The car did seem a bit more smoother this morning, but that could have just been my imagination.

Anyone have any thoughts/experience?

I can\'t imagine it\'d make that much difference, like you said, I always thought it was a reliability mod. I suppose it could possibly flow better than the original but I doubt you\'d pick it up. I dunno. How did they compare visually?

Seems pretty similar. But then the join between the two metal pipes is flush, where-as the plastic pipe that was on there previously has to contend with the rubber hose coupler, which could get in the way of a good flow of air - hence maybe disrupting the air flow and slowing it down.

Hmmm yeah, I suppose anything that smooths the airflow out a bit is going to help.
