Title: Boost down following engine change
Post by: johnf on September 06, 2005, 09:44:24 AM
Hi

Follolwing the death of my eingine    I opted to buy a second hand unit and had that fitted.

The boost gauge on the old lump used to register up to 10psi, however since the install of the replacement lump I only get 6psi.

It has an apexi and was mapped for the original engine but I haven\'t had a re-map since the change over.

What could cause this drop off in boost limit.

prob vacuum hose under uim the 96 onwards cars have a seal unit for most of the solenoids has this been taken apart as it requires a little work to get it perfectly aligned again.

Ask whomever installed the engine, a rats nest problem as Bri says probably. The joys of the twin turbo control system!

look at the wastegate actuator lines under the twins, check if the pipes still have the "pils" in.

96 onwards have the pills in the turbo pack themselves, not in the pipes
