Title: Need help with my clutch please!
Post by: fletch on September 05, 2005, 02:12:53 PM
Hi guys!

Having a problem with clutch pedel sticking to the floor. Let me tell you how it began. I had this problem before xmas and was told by pip at WGT that my clutch was knackered and needed replacing. So i forked out for a new clutch and everything was wonderful. Then two weeks ago i had a leak from a cluctch hydraulics pipe at the top of the engine, which i had replaced pretty sharpish. But now i struggle to find reverse, and sometimes while in reverse, with the clutch in my rex races backwards!!! And still the clucth pedal sticks to the floor if ive been using the clucth alot in built up traffic etc.

Any ideas of what could be happening to my pride and joy? Could the clutch be damaged due to the hydraulic leak?

Please help!

Fletch

could be the slave cylinder or even master cylinder

as you ahve had the hose to slave replaced and the clutch, slave or master is the only other thing to go really... not too expensive to replace 150 quid tops...

hope this helps

sounds more like air or low fluid to me. Double check and get bleed

If you have had a fluid leak and replaced the hose you would have introduced air into the system, air in the system will make the pedel feel \'spongy\' and is likely to stick, to clear the air you need to bleed the system, which entails a bleed hose attached to the nipple on your slave cylinder [cracked open] and some one pumping the pedel to force the air out [make sure you keep the cylinder topped up with fluid when you are doing this], once this is done you should be sorted, if not you then have a problem with the slave cylinder.

Weird to hear someone with similar problem  :)

My clutch pedal has always stuck to the floor (only managed about 3K since puirchase tho) and its something i\'ve still got to get around to sorting.  It only does it when pressed down fully for long periods of time, so I just tend to put the car in neutral at traffic lights etc.

Going off the above am I in for a repair bill?  Clutch aint slipping at all and pulls strong, I just thought the cable was catching?

Cheers
Chris

dependant on what power you are running and what clutch you have, some uprated clutches WILL bend the forks giving you a sticky clutch, dont be under the missaprehention the clutch is cable operated, it is hydrolic :eek
