what should a standard T2 be running on a quarter mile? Id expect v low 15\'s maybe a high 14 if the car is running nicely but i may be way out :-s

Nice FC Woodsy

Yes I would say high 14s for the FC as standard

Yep, the pain is always going to be shifting from 3rd to 4th - it always seems to be right on the line for a stock TII.  (Some seem to be able to hit 100 in 3rd, others have to be in 4th)

As Brett said, the problem is the gearing, 3rd/4th happens at just the wrong time (i.e. about 0.5-1 second before you cross the line) 3rd is revving too high if you keep in gear and 4th you drop out of the power band
Title: FC Strip times
Post by: grinder on February 05, 2008, 05:28:57 PM
yeah thats the prob i had to be honest - you run out of puff in 3rd and you change up and cross the line

only thing you could do is change up early and hope 4th will pull .. HARD !!

i ran at 15.07 and it was a stock car with the centre cat removed and thats it

wondering what the auto will do - as that is happy at 112 in 3rd :D

so i only need to change gear twice ( 1-2 and 2-3 ) :D

it was the first person to break the 100mph terminal speed - there is a huge thread about it - and you have managed to do it on a pretty much stock car !! LOL

the 0-60 at 5.5 - thats very impressive - i like that i really do - im sure the book figures are 7.2 ( i think )

Thanks Grinder,

It is a stock engine / turbo / intercooler, but it was running 1 bar, home made \'straight shot\' induction kit with cold airbox, high ocane fuel (99 + booster) 3in de-cat exhaust etc etc. I guess most of you guys would probably have to take the mods further as I\'m sure you wouldn\'t want to strip all your interior (and more) to achieve the \'magical\' 100mph, like I did.

Cheers,
Nick

Not hard enough it seems...

I think I dialled in about 3K rpm\'s - and then slipped the clutch in pretty quick from biting - got very little wheel spin, but slow pickup.  Turbo really spools about 4K - but I didn\'t want to rag the clutch just yet.

They seem a bit odd - as the Infini IV had 220 BHP - as opposed to the 200 BHP in the Turbo II - so surely a better 0-60 ?

The convertable figures in the table are probably for the american N/A version - the UK and Jap markets got the Tubby version

I\'m running a little over 300 BHP - but the power curve is towards the top end as is the torque peak - so my power in gear isn\'t over such a long spread. UK Tubby II vert is about 1560 KG\'s - without the spare tyre probably closer to 1500KG, and with my weight added - closer to 1600 again ;)

yep the weight of your car is killing the performance on the strip.
You are launching to low an rpm, try 4.5K load up on the handbrake to stop it rolling as you find the biting point on the line then launch

Was head winds at JapShow as well - so I suspect that the eManage is somehow sapping power in the mid range - I\'m going to start logging the ignition timing and see if it advances / retards in the places it should.  I could feel the power begin to kick in right at the end of the rev range - but then I had to change gear :2Rolleyes - it spooled faster after I\'d altered settings on the boost controller for Japshow - and those are still in place - so since the only thing that\'s changed is running injector and ignition through the eManage now - it has to be that.

Post by: StavFC on August 19, 2010, 08:05:39 PM
Koose-
Yeah, I was very impressed with the terminal speed for such a small turbo, thats more than a Audi R8 V10!
I was pretty sure before I started I could push more performance from the tiny little turbo than most say is possible, and im pleased to say the terminal speeds seem to say I was right.
The 1/4mile could be a lot better, as that was still a very slow 2sec 60ft, and very slow gear changes to save the box, and certainly not full throttle shifts. Would be mid or even low 11s with a 1.6 60ft and fast gearchanges, hell, with a serious drag 60ft time and a dog box it would probably see 10s, which is comedy really on a little T04E on a rotary, lol.

Title: FC Strip times
Post by: StavFC on August 20, 2010, 03:01:19 PM
Mizzi? If so, yeah, small world!

And although it was built in Japan as a pro drift car, to be competitive in drifting the setup needs to be pretty much how a grip/time attack car would be, so its good for either, though not exactly setup for launching too great.
I use it as a general fun car, limiting myself to it being good at just one thing means I wouldnt get much use out of it, so its done loads of drift days, a sprint event, drag runs, and loads of road use.
