Title: engine revving in gear with no accelerator
Post by: chrisJDM on September 03, 2005, 12:40:57 PM
decided to take car out for a spin couple nights ago, engine got quite hot then when i stopped at the top of my road the car was gently revving even thou i just had clutch down and in gear.  I then took it out if gear and into neutral and it stopped revving and just idled normally, then put it bk in gear and it would gently rev itself again.  Any ideas what the problem is?? or why it does this???

Many Thanks

Generally all engines do this. just its not normally as noticeable. Its something to do with the engine revs more freely with the clutch depressed. When you say it gently revs, by how much?
