Title: Where to get Fuel Pump and Regulator
Post by: dandan on September 02, 2005, 10:14:29 AM
Hi all,

I have been reliably informed that uprating my fuel pump and getting a regulator will allow me to unleash around 50 extra HP due to the way my car is currently running.

I want to do this but also want to spend as little cash as possible, so where would people advise i buy this from, does a rotary need a special pump and regulator or can i buy it from any motorsport accessories place?
And I\'m hoping to fit this myself, is this a viable option?
I do have a small amount of spanner experience but don\'t want to end up trailering it to a real mechanic after realising I can\'t put it back together...

Also any specific spec of the items i would need would be much appreciated

Rotary Extreme (club supporter) have a really good fuel system:

1600 cc/min injectors x 2
fuel rail x 1, SARD FPR x 1
fuel pressure gauge
all the lines and fittings to work with the stock primary fuel rail

For $525 and a Walbro 255 l/h Fuel Pump for $115

Serious fuel system for little cash and if you plan to go more extreme in the future your fueling will be good enough.

Quick question... will these items (1600cc injectors, fuel rail etc.) reduce the MPG on a RX7? Or does the fuel pressure gauge make sure the same amount of fuel is piped into the engine?

Cheers
Jon

thanks muchly guys, i\'m only going for the pump and reg at the mo as apparently i dont need any other stuff to give me some extra HP, and its the cheapest option.

I might be in touch about that reg dre, i need to save up a little cash first though.

Anyone know if these two items are easy to fit?

Pump is not a big job, can be done in half an hour or so if the old nuts and bolts come off easily. sometimes they can be badly corroded which is time consuming!!

Regulator will depend on your knowledge around the engine, not sure if plenum chamber needs to come off. You\'ll need to get a fuel pressure gauge to set up the regulator. Not sure how much they are though. Not more than around £50 (i think).

Then the only restriction to raising the boost and going for more power will be dependant on what intercooler you have, but fueling should be fine for at least 0.9 bar of boost!!

Let me know about the reg if u need it and we can sort something out on the price.

Hope this helps

Yeah I have a hooge uprated intercooler which is prob why Max at reworx said a pump and reg will get me another 50bhp, the secondary tubby is running .7bar at the moment because any more and it might suck the fuel pump dry apparently. injectors are ok for now though.

thanks for the info, anyone know what pressure the new pump needs to be rated at?
