Title: Driver door just can\'t open!!
Post by: jasonlel on August 29, 2005, 05:28:08 AM
Hi guys,

Perhaps someone here can help me. I can\'t seems to open the driver door either from inside or outside. Any idea?

Now to fix it is one thing, but how do I get the door open in the first place before I can rectified and fix it? Someone told me it is possible to open the door panel from inside without having to open the door, is this true and how can it be done? :(

Cheers,
Jason X

Don\'t think you can remove the door panel without opening the door, there are 3 screws that run around the outer edge which you need to remove before the panel will come off.

There are several things you could have a go at, firstly removing the triangular interior trim panel on the inside of the door handle, you can then remove the door handle on the outside.  You can also do the same for the interior handle.  Not sure what this will do, but maybe able to see if you\'ve snapped something - might even be able to get to the lock - although I don\'t know for sure.

i had a similar thing when i had remote central locking fitted remote central locking, basically if you take the triangle out and push the one rod down the door will open, the other rod goes to the lock barrel, i left the lock one off as i dont use the key to open the door and now my system works fine.

When you mean take the triangle out means "removing the triangular interior trim panel on the inside"?

Thanks for your advice dude......

best bet is first remove the triangle by the top of the door and see if u can reach the rod..they are a very basic design one to lock/unlock and other to release mechanism

Ok, now I manage to open the door. But after much checking,I peep throught the hole from inside the door panel, I\'m able to see how the lock lever works. I notice that when i use the key to lock, the lever will pull the rod up (lock). But when I try to unlock using the key, the lever did not push the rod down (unlock). Why is this so? Is my rod out of position? Rod too short?

I was told that the rod connecting to the lock have to be place outter side of the lower screw. See my picture below.... But even thou I try to position the rod to the outter screw I\'m not able to put the handle back in place and I notice the rod holder wont be able to catch the rod too. Anyone can help?

The real problem is the rod connecting to the lock is weak, thus when unlocking the door, instead of "pushing" the rod down, the rod is flexing and in actual fact not completely pushing the rod down. Guess I need a new placement rod.

Another thing is I suspect my remote looking "GUN" arent working too. 2 in 1 combo... :(
