Iv got a fibreglass bodykit from a m8 and i was just wondering if theres anything you can you to make it less flexible lol, its quite bendy, anyways of reinforcing it?
Looks like one of thos cheep ass kits that bend when u drive or hit a bump lol
Wobbles like a fat lady on a pogo stick :evillaugh
Probably the easiest way would be to fibreglass into the back, some thin plastic pipe, that would add rigidity, and not add too much weight.
Was thinking along tho`s lines myself but wasnt sure lol..
Also thought of maybe making a plastic frame out of pipes and filling with that expanding foam and trim off the eccess(not the pipes the gaps between lol
Either should be ok, just try the method you would find easiest to do.
Why not fit soft springs, that way the car would wobble so no-one would notice the flex in your bumper :D :D
LOL, I hope you get it sorted.
hehe, thats another prob lol iv got rock hard suspension, hks race setup lol.. ahh well its a free kit so ill play arounf n c what happens :yes
Best bet is to glass in some alloy pipe, especially along the front of the nose cone.
I smashed my REA one twice through hitting things because its so low and being grp it just breaks easy, i got some alloy tube and bent it to shape then glassed it in behind the bottom edge, makes it much more rigid, i also added some support bars going backwards to stop the flex, my front end is now nice and rigid :):):):):)
Im giving it a wirl today lol.. i`ll let you guys know how it goes :)
LOL, I work up in Scotland a bit and find a lot of the roads no better than dirt tracks (come to think of it, a lot ARE just dirt tracks) no wonder your bumper flexes with a race suspension set-up. :D
Good luck, I hope you sort it. Will be glad to hear what you use, I will be changing my bumper soon and may need to do the same.
Hope I\'m not to late!!
I worked with GRP for a long time as my old man used to make powerboats!!
Bracing the mouldings is a straight forward job, but try to avoid plastic & metal pipe. The reason for this is that the resin doesn\'t take to it and after a while the pipe will release itself and you\'ll be back with the same problem (same with metal)!
The best things to use for bracing are:
1/2" ply wood or 4mm thick card tube (from inside paper roles), as the resin is absorbed into the material so will not break free!
If you use the plywood score the surfaces with a chisel to give a better joint.
Process:
put a layer of wetted out fiberglass matting on to the surface you want to brace.
coat the brace with resin and then set it down on to the wet matt, then put a further 2 layers of matting & resin over the whole lot (one at a time obviously) and let it dry befor you move it off the work area to avoid distortion.
Hope this helps and is in time!!

Ahh good points lol never thought of the bars coming loose.. cheers bud, iv made the frame but havnt stuck it in yet so ill try your way, sounds a better way for it :yes
