Title: Second turbo
Post by: Madden on August 27, 2005, 07:54:30 AM
Hello

After a bit of info here.   When does the second turbo normally kick in on your cars?  Mine seems to kick in about 6000rpm but the other day i think it was kicking in at 4500rpm.

Yeah the transition to the 2nd turbo should be 4500rpm.

at about 4500rpm the boost drops and at about 6000 you feel the second turbo really kick in

The second turbo should kick in more or less straight away at 4,500rpm. There\'s often a momentary drop just beforehand. I\'m no expert on diagnosing problems with the sequential setup sadly :(

What would make the second turbo come i late?   Its been doing it since ive had the car but on friday morning it was coming in at 4500 and then stopped again.  It also was idling spot on as well and then it went back to normal at about 950-1000rpm.

When it come in at 6000rpm and fells strong so it cant be nackered can it?

any ideas?

Sounds like the transition is working too well.  It\'s a fairly common fault on these cars, and tends to be one of the vacuum hoses.  I\'m no good at diagnosing these kind of faults.  Best take it into a rotary specialist (see vendors at the top), probably take them less than 1/2 an hour to fix it...
