Title: Anyone know what this is?
Post by: Trevrx on August 22, 2005, 01:07:11 PM
It\'s a 4" plastic tube attached under the intake, with 1/2" rubber hose either end.
Anyone know it\'s purpose?  Mine looks like it dribbles oil where I\'ve pencilled yellow.

Its a breather filter for the fuel tank.  Under certain conditions, a solenoid attached to it draws fumes from the petrol tank and sends them into the UIM.  Cap it off ( i did a year ago with no probs since).

Cheers Jon,  I\'m gonna take a look at it later.
My oil leak can\'t be coming from there then.
The search goes on :)

Cap off the engine end only, you can allow the fuel tank end to vent to atmosphere.  It\'s only required for the emissions rubbish anyway.
