Sorry to contradict but Ferodo don\'t make an aftermarket pad for our cars and please don\'t use EBC as its well documented on MRC that these really don\'t work on our cars.

Look to buy Black Diamond ( pads & discs) or Hawk ( pads) for your car as these brands work well depending on your purpose for them.

BTW Mintex don\'t make pads for our cars either.

Hope this helps.

Hi, sorry for this hijack. :)

Whats the history with the EBC pads then?  I\'ve used them on the FC (Greenstuff V4) for aggressive road use and never had a problem.  Just wondering what problems people had come accross?

Some EBC pads are concrete and some are cardboard, thing is they come out of the same box, in other words they have no quality control !!.

I have seen RX-7\'s with blue and cracked  Disc\'s with EBC products fitted.

DBA\'s are good, my company has sold them for RX-8\'s and the results have been very good, not sure if they make em for RX-7\'s though.

BTW, l have known EBC work on other makes of car but just not our\'s !!

if its an FC as your title suggests,  i fitted Black diamond discs and pads,  drilled and grooved.  Also fitted FD callipers while i was at it as they are a straight swap.  Brakes are fine for fast road but i dont think they would survive a track day but i might be wrong.  Shy will get the discs for you at a reasonable price and dont take long.

The Black Diamond/Hawk combo should be good for moderate track use unless you\'re putting down massive power but if you\'re doign that you really need bigger rotors than standard to dissipate the heat anyway!

If you\'re planning on doing very high speed stops (i.e. repeated 150+!!!) you definately need to stick bigger stuff on - not sure how good FC brakes are but the FDs with uprated pads will cook brakes used that hard.

For street I can\'t fault BD/Hawk but I\'d steer clear of the drilled stuff.  I had a set of fronts fail after a play @ Bruntingthorp although this may have been a 1-off problem.  The discs got hot enough to turn blue when cold so were probably glowing (if I remember my O-level metalwork theory.)!!!

not a fan of drilled disc\'s . Had some on my Pulsar and they all cracked after a few hard braking runs on the motorway .

Ive got Black Diamond discs (grooved) and EBC pads on the front, with the standard set up at the back. Have to say i\'ve had no problems with them, but i\'ve never been on a track or really given them a lot of abuse over a long time.

Mosy of our customers have been happy with the Hawk/Black Diamond  combo, I used that at Spa, Brands, Silverstone and was great for track days, as generally you only get 6-8 laps at time. Black Diamond and Hawk in stock for immediate dispatch, and my web site quotes in Euros.

So is it the overall view to go for Black Diamond discs and Hawk pads for street and occasional track use. As I will be needing some stopping as my pads and disc feel as they are on there way out and cannot afford to fork out for a Big brake kit. I am running only a small TD06 so it should be sufficent, Yes?

Cheers

Just reading thru old threads cos I\'ll be doing discs and pads soon.

Clive, I had Ferodo front pads on my last FD so they must be available? Couldn\'t get rears tho.   Now have EBC pads all round and they have taken some heavy road use/abuse and coped very well!  Thinking about trying Hawk next tho.

Hi Trev,

We deal direct with Ferodo Racing and can\'t get a pad for the FD sadly

Do the Hawk pads leave brake dust ? I have standard Mazda pads on at the mo I think that came when I got the car, they make the alloys absolutely filthy.

I know Greenstuff pads stop this from happening. Do the Hawk ones ?

Hey Clive,
I got them for a stock brake set up on a 94 FD.
A guy called Harry Parkes (used to run a motor spares shop in London, now here) seems to be able to find anything lol.
I\'ve dug out the reciept and item number was FDB483 or ADM54248, dont know if that means anything to you?

The Hawks on mine dust like it\'s going out of style.  Superb pads though.  Buy black wheels.

Cheers Trev,

We have been trying of and on to get somthing like a DS2500 compound
in Ferodo as an upgrade of the stock pads.

p.s. we stopped selling Hawk unless the customer  is going on track or  specifically requests them due to the dust issue with ALL Hawks.

This came about after a customer complaint where a guy brought Hawks after being told "every time you go down the road you will wipe your finger on the rim and it will be black"

We don\'t like the thought of unhappy customers so in spite of the warning we gave the guy the money back and sold him Black Diamond pads instead!

Kind Regards
Clive

We stock all Hawk pads, as they are very good for track use, some are more dusty than others but not all Hawk are that bad, not more than some other makes, HP plus are not a bad fast road pad, with not to much dust, HT10\'s are superb track pads but dust like crazy, you need to know what you want to do with the car, Black Diamond Preditors wont be any cop on track.
Ferodo do make pads for an FD as I posted 3 weeks ago I was talking to someone about them, both their pads are fast rd, no track pads as yet Im affraid. Again in stock, as of next week.

All on my site, delivery generally a couple of days.
