Title: RX7 wanted for magazine feature
Post by: edhall on August 17, 2005, 09:18:49 AM
Hi everyone,
I write for Practical Performance Car magazine, in which every month we run a seven page buyer\'s guide on an affordable performance car. We\'d like to cover the late-model RX7 in one of the next couple of issues, therefore i\'m on the lookout for someone who\'d like to have their car featured in the mag. The car would need to be cosmetically as standard as possible (different wheels are ok), in a bright colour (not white as it\'s a studio shoot) and clean. The photographer is John Colley; his studio is in Derby and he\'s more than happy to send the owner a full set of the studio shots.
We\'d need the shoot to happen around the end of this month on a weekday that\'s convenient for all.
Could anyone interested in having their car in the mag a set of studio pictures please get in touch with me asap via E-mail (edward_hall@hotmail.com) or on 07815870911. I\'d be very grateful for your help.
         Regards,
                    Ed Hall

PS.I\'m freelance (hence the hotmail address) - my provenance can be checked with the mag\'s editor if required.

Shame I sold my mint std red type r2, as i only live down the road from Derby and that car loved being in the lime light! :( ;)

It\'s hard to think of anyone around these parts with a std FD3S

Good luck with your search,

Paul:)

it might be worth you looking at a few earlier models. to be honest i have seen so many mags do the third gen it is getting boring. practical perf mag is great and it has a mad selection of modded cars. what you need to do is a write up on my modded second gen

Hi Ed.

After you have your pictures I will give you a hand with the text if you wish as l have had a hand in a few other Mags with write-ups these cars.

I offer so we can hopefully represent this car as accurately as possible and give potential new owners a true indication of ownership, this is after all one of the base reasons Mazdarotaryclub was formed.

This is a good idea, as there is a lot of mis-information out there about the 3rd gen RX-7. And a lot of people who buy them yet are still utterly un-informed about what to expect.

(I met someone a couple of days ago who had one, but new almost nothing about them!)

Well said. There are so many FD buyers guides etc. But I am sure Practical performance may out do them all.

Hi Ed.

Cosmetically my Silverstone metallic 1993 Type R2 is pretty standard apart from MS-02 Silver and gold magnesium wheels designed for the RX-7 and a big pipe at the back. The engine has minimal mods and I\'ve just taken it around the Nurburgring so could give you a  pretty good appraisal of the handling too. It costs me £110 for an oil and filter change every 3000 miles and I can get 25mpg on a long journey.
I will e-mail you some pics shortly, can\'t get them to attach on here for some reason.

Mart.

Loving the flame in that pic Mart! Very rude  ;)

I think a std RX7 is going to very hard to come by, good luck looking.

Cheers

Wanted to attach a frame by frame file but it\'s .wmv, my car has been spitting flame like mad since the midpipe and PFC went on, mainly when changing up at full pelt but at other times too. The film has made it round most of the Supra club now (as it was taken by a Supra pilot) and I was chatting to a guy today I\'d never spoken to before who said \'Yours is the silver one with the mad flames, right?\'.

I have a fairly cosmetically standard 2001 model, standard apart from a csoupla carbon bits, and 19\'s. Would be great to get it featured (one of the few post 99 in the country).

Trouble is, some utter meathead has just done a number on it, and given the entire passenger-side bodywork a good kicking, so my pride and joy is now dented on every panel (including the roof). I feel sick...
