Title: Progress Report
Post by: FD3UK on August 16, 2005, 05:08:14 PM
After several changes on the way my FD3 is now making some good progress.

Still need to decide on fuel pump and clutch, get charge cooler connected to Greddy Elbow, then I should be able to start some rough tuning on the ECU.

Spec is: - Greddy T78, Microtech LT10s, Excessive LIM, 860cc primary 1680cc secondary fuel injectors, Electric water/steering pump and PWR Charge cooler.

Thanks for the comments.

Millspeed, I am using the Davies Craig water pump, Radiator fans are also Davies Craig as they take up less space than the standard Mazda fans.

Normski, I take it the 3 Rotor conversion is not going as planned?

No problems, Pip says it\'s got to be right, as it\'s his rep on the line here. It\'s just a very very big Job to it right. I recon Sept end now before I get it back... ready for next year :cheers

Are you around on friday afternoon or saturday? I\'d like to sneak a peek at your chargecooler plumbing (I\'m fitting one too at the moment)
Cheers

Can I ask how much stuff you exhaust wrapped?

I was thinking about wrapping the downpipe and a few other goodies :)

Hi Rob, Have you gone for the PWR as well. Fri or Sat will be fine, just give me a call beforehand.

DS2000, I have wrapped headers, turbo and downpipe. Can\'t say if that is the right or wrong thing to do, just my own choice

Normski, glad the project is still moving along, as you say Pip will make sure it\'s all OK in the end. I decided to go 3 rotor the easy way and have got one coming that is still powering its original shell.

yeah I\'ve gone for a PWR but the 6"x8" version. It\'s all in the car and the electrics are ready to go but I\'ve not plumbed the water system in yet. I\'ve decided to tee the filler off and elevate it above the system to prevent air locks and I was wondering what you\'ve done with the filler.. I\'m tempted to fit a seperate elevated reservoir which I\'ve seen on a few aus setups
I\'ll give you a bell before I invade ;)
Cheers

Thanks,

I have my twins off the car at the minute and obviously the downpipe so I was considering wrapping them as well, the only thing I\'m unsure about is if the heatwrap holds too much heat in :dunno:

Get them pipes wrapped up you\'ll be suprised how it keeps the engine bay temps down. The down side is your arms will be itching for a day or so as it certainly irritates the skin.

Fantastic work, very impressed. MAKE SURE YOU USE A VERY POWERFUL ELECTRIC PUMP as i and others have found that when the water system is under pressure a small pump will not pump the water under pressure and your intake temps go up to 40 + ( not good ). hth. :)

Very nice - particularly like the water elbow and alternator bracket. Top piece of fabrication.

I Have now got the link between turbo and throttle body sorted. I have also moved the air temp sender to the Greddy elbow.(//%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b51/kevnokia/P8220008.jpg)[/IMG]
