Post by: antnicuk on August 10, 2005, 05:36:37 PM

be very carefull not to bugger up the ABS sensors, they don\'t like being knocked or the vibrations from say hitting the hub with a hammer. IIRC they are a bugger to get out of the rear hubs.

yeah like he said. its worth checking that it is done up properly first. one thing for you to look forward to is you wont be able to get the discs off because they will be corroded on. alloy hubs and steel discs.  nice

the discs are all new drilled ones so they wont be a problem,    whats adjustable? and checking whats done up?

This may help,
If you think your wheel bearings are on the way out due to "a bit of play", Gen 2\'s are actually set up with a small amount of play in them.

Might be teaching Granny how to suck eggs but while your changing your Disc\'s undo the centre nut take the hub right off and pull out the bearings then look for any pitting or scoring,  if you see either renew them as it means the case hardening has been broken through and you will get rapid wear occur.

Good side is, bearings are real cheap.

Hope this helps.

there is a write up on FC3S about adjusting the front bearings

mine had loads of play in them

took about 20 mins to do ( although thats when i put the jack thru the floor !! )

i took mine out - re greased them all - you bed them in with xx torque , then slacken them and then readjust to xx torque

yeah i know - its a vague post !!
