While changing the bushes on my car, I have started to clean and polish the suspension arms. They were really grotty.
I know no one will really see them but it makes me feel better :)
is that the front or back in suspension 001...
What you using to clean them? Brake cleaner???
001 looks like it is the front lower arms.
Fish
What to use to clean them though.... mine are pretty much as in the before pics and it\'d b nice to clean them up as I can see them through my spokes.
You could aim for this :)

Then have them annodised...

Could you give me yours Glenn, would save me a few quid!?
That looks pretty pricey, was looking for a good solvent/etc... that I could scrub on them to bring them up like new.
hehehe - you could purchase a reasonable RX-7 for the cost of the bits pictured above :) A lot of work actually went into polishing the arms - I think it was a few days labour.
You could probably have a go at polishing them yourself, problem is that the standard ones are treated also - but the finish isn\'t that great. You have to be careful not to go too far otherwise you will have to have them annodised or painted really well for them to maintain a clean appearance.
I first used engine cleaner to remove the tar like residue, then used a wire wheel brush to get the paint off. Once polished will look pretty much like in the first of the above photos. I am doing the polishing myself. Takes a while but saves a few quid for all the other mods ;0)
I might even polish the calipers too if I can be bothered, but it\'s so sunny these days sitting on my driveway is like torture!
Thanks for the info! What polishing kit are you using - I\'m a man of many questions!
That\'s what the forum is for mate.
My first kit was from thepolishingshop.co.uk but the ones on eBay are the same but cheaper. This time I bought the abrasive mops and compounds to speed things up a bit.
Apart from the kit you would probably need some flap wheels, wire wheels and wet/dry sand paper. I wouldn\'t say I am an expert but have done quite a few bits on my previous FD so I know how important it is to save time and elbow grease! My old car even had polished tool kit!
Cheers for that I\'ll have a look on ebay and see whats about, I have some wire wheels - just need the rest I guess! Definatly something to do over the winter when theres nothing better to do.
