Does anyone know of any insurance companies that will insure me (20yr old) on an RX7? I have the money to purchase and run a mint \'7\', only thing stopping me is insurance, they just dont want to know! I could even live with just being a named driver as my dad cannot wait to get behind the wheel of one aswell.It\'ll just be used as a weekend toy, not a daily driver.
Theres got to be an insurance company out there....... :god
You\'ll probably struggle to get a sensible quote as the insurer, expect it to cost a packet to be a named driver on you Dad\'s insurance as well.
Also worth pointing out - if it\'s going to be your car and you\'ll be the main driver (i.e. you Dad\'s an occasional driver) then this would fall foul of the insurance companies policy on named drivers. If your dad already has a car and NCB on it then the FD will cost him a packet unless you can find an insurer who will match the NCB on his other car. A-Plan did this for me when I got my 2nd car to complient the Rex but only if I kept both policies with them.
Good luck with the hunt, hope you don;t get fleeced too much by the legalised theft.
Adrian Flux will probally insure you mate but dont expect it to be cheap :(
:wave
adrian flux aren\'t keen on touching FD\'s anymore, they got stung on too many claims last year and highway the company they do the policy through have bumped up the premiums big time.
Ozzy, try Egger Lawson 0115 9415255 option 4, 2
You\'ll speak to a guy called Steve, tell him Gareth from Melton Mowbray sent you. They might be able to sort something out with regards to an occasional weekend use policy for your and your dad. They specialise in trackday cars etc but did me a great quote for the FD when everyone else was playing silly buggers.
Next best I found was Hoddesdon Insurance Consultants 0845 121 2212
Most other companies will hate you until you are 25! fact
hope you get on ok.
cheers
Gareth
Cheers everyone, ive rang several big/specalist insurance companies (inc egger lawson) and all said had to be over 25 :( I didnt get time to mention just weekend use, as soon as my age was mentioned the most common response was "ahhh well, thats going to be a problem".
\'Juz\' off this forum is 20 and insured on a fd3s, i\'ll try and find out who with!
I\'m 20 and have had a couple of good quotes when quoting that i was 21, the best was off adrian flux @ £1800 fully comp with 3 years NCB. 21 seems to make all the difference, they wanted £2k+ TPFT for me at the moment
