Title: Tip for cat removal
Post by: kbareham on August 07, 2005, 01:18:51 PM
Chaps
I have just removed the cat from my FD. There is a thermocouple bolted to the side of the cat which is the sensor used to drive the "heat" lamp on the dash. I took the drivers seat out, found the wiring loom connector under the carpet and unplugged the sensor which allowed me to remove the sensor from under the car.
Unfortunately, this leaves the heat lamp permanently on. So I got two lucas type male connectors, a 1200 ohm resistor and some heat shring sleeve. By simply connecting the resistor across the two loom terminals, the heat lamp goes out without needing to leave the thermocouple strapped under the car somewhere.
Not sure what everyone else does, but this seems a tidy method to me.

I just unplugged the sensor from under the car, pulled it through then reconnected it and taped it to the body under the carpet.

Your method sounds good too.

tried this but the light still comes on after awhile and stays on.

i also read somewhere that \'gerbil stunt farm\' just connected his two wires together without the resistor. did that work to mate?
