Just wondering why Sarahs TII starts at approx 3500 revs until she dabs the throttle and then it drops to a normal "on choke" idle speed.
Is this normal or is there something that anyone can suggest as to why it is doing it.
Cheers
Nik
sounds the same as my third gen. Try starting it with your\'e feet on the clutch and brake pedal when you turn the key. That seems to make a differance in mine.
Thanks Peter, I\'ll tell her to give it a go.
yeh mine does that from cold starts at 3000 revs and then sticks there for alittle while and then it goes to 1000 revs so thats normal, if you dab the pedal it stays at 1500 revs for longer,
so you got two options wait for a minute at 3000 revs or more time at 1500.
The correct answer is,,, the cars have a cold start feature... on inital start up they will rev to 3 - 3.5 for I believe 20 sec and then come down to 1.5 and as the temp stablizes it gets normal idle.

yeh thats nearly what i said... see im learning!
it says in the hand book that it does it for about 15 seconds. personally i start it in gear and once it fires i lift the pedal to drop the revs. i belive its to try to stop the rotary tendancy to flood and also get the cats hotter quicker to alow them to work.
Thats OK then. As long as it\'s normal it\'s not a problem. Sarah was just worrying about it incase it was something going wrong.
Thanks all for your info.
Nik
Yeah, in the hand book it mentions this as a \'starting aid\', you can either blip the throttle slightly or let it come down of its own accord.
