Title: Increasing RPM
Post by: McCARTHY on August 06, 2005, 09:32:03 AM
As the title indicates....... is there anyway to increase the rev range on an RX7 (Gen3)..... I no on my old scooby when i rebuilt the lump on that i had a billet crank custom made that could take upto 9,500rpm..... with all he other forged internals and a larger turbo it became a bit of a tool, not to mention more econoical...... well off boost anyway! I know that the rotary is completely different as you have to think about tip seal and the housing wear but can it be raised??? Come on you must admit a rotary at 10,000 rpm would sound amazing and you could also make use of those big turbos that are just begging to be on full boost for longer

10k rpm is, as I understand, not a huge problem to achieve as long as the engine\'s put together for it.

I think Carl (Haywood Rotary) might have a litte experience with this sort of thing ;)

Yes it can be made to rev at 9500/10,000 rpm.
It does cost quite a bit to do.
