Title: Changing Power FC Settings
Post by: rxangus on August 03, 2005, 01:29:04 PM
Hi,

I\'ve got a Power FC that has been fitted and mapped by WGT. I\'ve noticed that I don\'t get any significant increase in boost when the second turbo comes in. It\'s pretty much as per the first turbo although the boost drops on my gauge to only 0.6 bar (0.7+ on first).

Here\'s my boost  settings from the Power FC. Could someone who has one of these and is running stock twins, please let me know what theirs is set to?

Boost

1.   Pr   0.80 bar   56%
   Sc   0.80bar   66%
2.   Pr   0.60bar   62%
   Sc   0.60bar   70%

I am set to the 1. settings above so can\'t understand the low boost on the gauge?

Could I try upping the boost setting?

Thanks

Angus

IIRC mine is set up for 0.9 bar, and settings are:

1 Pr 0.80 56%
Sc 0.90 58%

I use my second setting to try different boost settings and highest I have been is 62% for about 1 bar of boost.

Reckon it would be different for every car though.

When you say significant increase in boost, do you mean on the boost guage or actual power when your driving?

You should boost same amount of pressure when both turbos are running, i.e 0.7 on first, dip for transistion then 0.7 when second turbo comes in. BTW it is normal for the boost to start dropping off high in rev range

Thanks for the reply!

By significant I mean that the boost I get after the transition feels pretty much like the boost level before. On the gauge, the boost drops from 0.7 bar before to 0.6 bar after. There should be major acceleration at this point!!

Can I just increase the boost level and base duty? How do you know what base duty you need for a given boost level?

Reading the Apexi manual it could mean that the boost level is a maximum setting and the base duty is what you need to adjust to get it. Is that right?

Thanks

Angus

I would not play with the boost if that is how it has been mapped by Pip.It has not been set at that point for no good reason, you are asking for trouble if you do adjust it.
