as title. im 6"8 and considering a rex.
Would it be easy to fit some sparco\'s or brides to let me in ? :p
cheers.
No chance....haha!
seriously tho, it will be a squeeze, i suppose its possible, i dont know tho, but i doubt it, but it could work.......
sorry, that really is very vague :rollin
Dan!!
lol. I dont mind stripping out the interior, and having it all redone. having custom rails made etc ?
Always like the rex, but being tall has its dis-advantages (drive a mondy st220 at moment)
I think the UK car has longer seat runners on it. ( Clive told me !) and some tall people stick a smaller steering wheel on it. Makes it a bit heavier but gives a tad more leg room. Have you tried to squeeze in one yet
Scott
no. got stuck in my mates s2000 though cos he had a nokia in car holder thing :D :p
WHAT you sat in his phone charger. Man u never gonna fit in one of those things :evillaugh
There are some fd owners in preston im sure one of them will let you sit in a car. But no sitting on any Nokia\'s
Scott
i am 6,1 and i have modified the std runners to let the seat go all the way back so it just about touches the rear seat, this makes it ok but i think you will struggle as you are taller ,you are welcome to have a sit in mine but i think you will have to move std seat or retro fit some others, and maybe remove the rear seats,(im in the birmingham area) cheers craig
i knew from day one id need to stick new seats in. Just wanted to guage how best to do it and who could do it.
As said above, if everything goes to plan, that would be the first thing id do other than getting it reliable depending on how good a one i get :)
Hi,
I am based just down the road from you. Got a few of these bad boys in. :)
Think you should fit in comfortably with the Mazdaspeed recliner seats in place. If you want to come down and see which ones fit and which dont just drop me a mail Transcars@gmail.com or info@trans-cars.co.uk
Cheers
hey Freddy. Where abouts are you based ?
cheers
Based in Horwich. Drop me an e mail mate and I will send you ful address if need be.
sent to your gmail dude :)
I\'m 6\'1" maybe slightly taller and I fitted just fine in mt japanese RX which had a little RE-Amiya steering wheel, my current UK one is fine on the leg room but occasionally I catch my knee on steering wheel which is pretty big as standard.
cheers
Gareth
I got told that there\'s a bit more room for seats to go back in a car that has bins in the back instead of rear seats. Find one of those, have the runners moved even further back, aftermarket sports seats sit a little lower so more room, smaller steering wheel and some very flat shoes.... Then you never no :)
The standard steering wheel will be your biggest problem at first. I\'m 6\'3" and didnt fit in a car comfortabley when it had a mazda wheel. Got a Momo one in mine now and its great.
Adam
i managed to find some size uk14 puma speed cats :D so they should be ok, good with the st220 anyways.
Good luck mate, hope you fit in, getting in and out might be a struggle. i\'ve got some tall friends who just look like giants (they look like they\'ve sat in a kiddies car) when sat in the passenger seat and they\'re a good few inches shorter than you.
Let us know how you get on.
Barry
:) ive e-mailed Freddy. Will let you all know :)
Hi Mate,
I\'ll be checking and replying to all mails to g mail this evening. :)
cool speak to you soon :)
i almost didn\'t buy my S2000 for the same reason - i\'m 6\' 3" and built to last - took me a couple of weeks to get comfortable but it\'s all good now - did consider removing the steering wheel for a smaller one on the S but didn\'t want to loose the airbag.
haven\'t actually tried an RX7 yet but i hope i don\'t have too much trouble cause i definitely want one someday - maybe best to buy one with a small wheel already fitted to save any hassle :)
yea. if everything goes to plan ill have a couple nice seats fitted and the rails moved right back, aswell as probably a smaller wheel :D
Freddy - got your e-mail, how will i be able to contact you during the day ? on the non-gmail address ?
Cheers :)
my friend who is 6\'4 managed to drive my rex last week.
After the drive i think he is getting one however he will move the seats back a bit.
Lew
G mail address during the day is fine. I have also e mailed you a contact number. :)
you got mail :)
Wow you is 6"8 .... my mate is around 6"4 and can sit in it ... but would never be able to drive it for more then 5 seconds .
with modification anything is possible ... even a lapdancing pole :D
I\'ve got a fixed pos Recaro bucket seat in mine and it\'s very low giving decent headroom. It\'s not too hard to move the seat further back by about 2" which should be enough for mid 6\' people.
Moving the standard seats further back might not help as your head will be up against the roof unless you\'re practically lieing down which sucks for good feel and control.
wayney - you might want to come to the meet on monday in warrington to get some more info :)
and there should be a few rx7 there to sit in if freddy hasnt helped you already
Freddy - you coming on monday night matey ??

I\'m a bit over 6ft 1 and when I turned up to see my first Rex the guy took one look at me and said I wouldn\'t fit in it. I was gutted, but hey... I got in OK and proved him wrong (If you\'d turned up I think he would have died laughing). I\'ve got standard seats and steering wheel and I find head room the biggest issue. I\'ve also got a sunroof which I think slightly reduces headroom. I have to either recline back a fair way or lean forward slightly to avoid head touching roof. I assume you\'re relatively thin and agile cos it\'s quite a long way down into a Rex if you\'re tall. Would you want to be driving it daily or just taking it out occasionaly? This could be a major consideration in terms of how hard it is for you to get in and out of the car. My initial reaction would be that without considerable mods it wouldn\'t be a proposition but there seem to be people around that think it might be done. I really hope they\'re right. If you can do it you\'ll surely go down as the tallest Rex owner in history!
lol. where there is a will there is a way as the saying goes ;)
i have no problem getting the lowest seats fitted as far back as possible.
when is the meet on monday ? i should be able to pop over have a gander :)
the meet is monday night ( its a jap meet so ALLLLLLLLLLL sorts of cars there )
have a look in the meet section
ill try and show up for a bit, ill be in my st220 tho - not jap :(
Hi Mate,
I\'ll be there. :)
Wayney,
Did you catch Top Gear on Sunday night? The top Japanese drift team were going through their paces. Pretty impressive. If find you can\'t actually fit into an RX7 you could always try adopting their one foot in, one foot out style of driving - height no problem! You might need to invest in some wet weather gear though! :rollin
lol i missed it but im gonna watch the repeat :D
went over to Freddy\'s place today - ive definatly fallen in love. tried a few rex\'s first an struggled. he had another that was standard with mazdaspeed seats and altered rails - fit like a glove :D
now gotta get insurance sorted / start saving hopefully the former :D
NICE ONE!! :)
Adam
Amazing, but great news. :p
I\'m so glad to hear that mate. I just started a thread about the height issue. Im 6\'3 and most of that is in my legs. I saw on ebay that someone had to put their car back up for sale due to the winning bidder finding that he couldnt get into the car properly due to being 6\'3. Youve really cheered me up now.
How much hassle and cost would be involved in modifyijng the rails or whatever is required to make me fit? Im about 3 or 4 months away from buying my first Rex and I want to try and budget properly.
:D the car i sat in was an ex hks drag car. smaller steering wheel and mazdaspeed leather seats, with altered rails. I found it as comfortable as my st220. The only other thing i was worried about was head height and the fact i wear boats as shoes (size 14) however when i sat in, it was fine - in fact had more head room than my st :D and the footwell was fine :D so now im just waiting for my personal insurance claim to come thru and im gonna stick a deposit down :D
Missed this thread. Yep, we had to try a few FD\'s before we could find one which was comfortable enough!
Wayne mate, checked that site. Brill stuff. Caught up with a lot of stuff las few weeks but will be e mailing all stuff today. :)
no worries mate, will talk to you soon then ! :)
