Just bought the engine rebuild dvd from rotary aviation (Not that i need to rebuild my 13b yet! :)) and have started watching it - I must say it appears to be an excellent buy, with details on all tolerances to measure. They show you everything you need to know when dismantling, and i\'m sure everything you need to know when re-assembling too (Haven\'t got that far yet!). An excellent resource for any home 13b engine builder!
I\'ve bought this - would definitly recommend it, even if you don\'t plan to rebuild your engine. I bought it out of interest and ended up using it as a reference when doing the vacuum hose replacement job.
Cheers
Jon
Yeah - i just bought it out of interest mainly to find out how tough it will be to rebuild it myself! So far, I\'m confident i can now do it! :D
Ah - I see a group buy coming on.
John
I got this and I don\'t even have a car yet ;)
i got it too and and have completed the rmoval section and just about to start the rebuild part, excellent buy and would definately recomend.
Count me in on a group buy!
sounds good where can i get a copy? how much?
I bought one of these when i rebuilt my engine..... made the whole job a lot easier, you can\'t really go wrong..... worth it\'s weight in gold! Got to also say how good rotary aviation were...Lisa who deals with the email stuff was spot on... i also got the rebuild kit from them, top stuff. Glad to say the engine build went great and got excellent figures when i took it to WGT :)
Just thought i\'s throw m 2p\'s worth in....
Adam
Sounds good, I\'ve got the silicon hose ready but too scared to make a start with just the nice coloured pics that are floating around the interweb.
Thinking that some **cough** backups **cough** could be made of this DVD, just in case the original gets scratched when lending it to fellow members ;)
regards
Gareth
I couldn\'t believe how quickly i recieved the DVD from rotary aviation (//www.rotaryaviation.com) - Ordered something like wednesday or thursday last week, and recieved it on monday! Now that\'s quick! Handy little info sheet you get with it too: torque settings, tolerances, and order codes for bits and pieces used in the rebuild! Quality!
nikp
How much did it cost with shipping etc.
John
Total cost was $52 - about 30 quid. Pretty pricey for a dvd, but I would say well worth it from what i\'ve seen.
So what will happen with the group buy,are non-members allowed ? cos im also interested.
Scud
If there were a group buy and thats if, I would only let members participate, thats
just my opinion.
Make it just another reason why its better to join.
John
Ok fair enough, i thought i\'d ask cos i thought it was forum thing not a club thing.
If i had a RX7 i wouldnt think twice about joining the club ...but until i get one ( which hopefully will be sooner rather than later ) i\'ll hold off.

Which did you buy Overhauling Mazda\'s 13B Rotary Engine 2nd Edition or
remove and replace ?
Scud

I gave you my thoughts NOT the clubs I imagine if there were a group but it\'ll be for anyone.
John
I\'m still up for the backup option.
cheers

Don\'t want to come across funny, but i think this back up idea mate is a bad one... Basically you\'ll be ripping off rotary aviation. They are a good company and i think most people will agree that they offer a great service, and i think that applies to all/most of the companies on here. Basically you\'ll be damaging the RX7 vendors/business\'s, and i know that this club would not want a part in that (seen that the mastermind/God behind the mazdarotary club runs one of these vendors). Sorry if this seems harsh but it\'s probably what most people on here think.
Cheers
Adam
Sounds like everyones going to become an engine re-builder.
So, who\'s going to offer the best price on a re-build :rollin
Adam
I agree. The guys that did this video has done a good job, and I think he deserves the credit, including the royalties. Rotary Aviation themselves do provide very good customer service. I forget the womans name know but she was quick to reply to my queries via e-mail.
If anyone is interested I have a video cassette variant of this video. I bought it in error and then bought the DVD version. I can\'t actually watch the video because it\'s in the American format - PAL or NTSomethingorother - whichever it is I can\'t watch it. So if anyone wants it I\'ll happily send it to them for free.
Cheers
Jon

I didnt mean to sound funny about it John, i just thought that group buys might have been for the forum users, i didnt know it was members only and if it pushes people to become full members then all the better for MRC.
Regards
is it really worth doing a group buy? you will probably only save a couple of pound
Laura is the girl at rotary aviation and is very good with replying to emails, spoke to her only this morning reguarding a rebuild kit.
i dont think being in this group buy is exactly going to tip the balance on people joining, as the saving is only going to be minimal
laura just told me that they have a number in stock and have just taken delivery of the removal and refitting DVD which is not advertised on the website yet. it is really good i have it on vhs
