Title: Fitting of proflec b
Post by: Madden on July 27, 2005, 06:35:01 AM
hello

Need a bit of advice on installing the prolec b boost controller.

First of all where do you lot have your switchs set on the back in the over boost setting or normal wastegate setting?

Do you lot just remove the pipe from the wastegate to the turbo housing that has the pill in it?  Do you lot use the pill or just leave it off.

And where do you have the mild and sharpe knob set?

Also do you have the low boost setting for stock boost and what can i turn it up to safly?

Cheers Sorry for so many question just brought it haven\'t got it yet but have loads of goodies to go on it

Jamie

No i know how to use it i had it on my skyline and subaru and i thought it was one of the easiest controllers to use compared to the evc 5 and avcr.

Well I think it\'s good that at least some of us try to work on our cars. If someone asks a valid question, why do people say "oh just go and see a specialist" - it kind of defeats the point of a technical forum, doesn\'t it?

There\'s some good stuff about the setup of these things on //www.rx7club.com and http://robrobinette.com/.

I\'ve got the mkII version, setup for non-seq, so it\'s slightly different setup than yours I expect. But on mine I tap into the wastegate vacuum line.

if u want to work on ur car fine do it but some thing are best left to the experts for example i doubt he has a wide band lamda sensor and a rolling road to read his afr timing etc while altering the boost on the controller.i have never known anyone put a boost controller on and not have the car set up on a rolling road as if u are running standard boost then why fit one so if increasing boost then easy way to go pop is fit it and turn it up :(

Have wide band and det cans form when i used to have skyline gtr .  Just had the controller laying around  so i though i might as well use it.   Are the rx7 that bad then that you cant turn the boost up at all?

I had a boost controller fitted when running standard boost - reason being that without I had volatile boost, boost controller fixed this and made car smoother to drive.  Made same power but more safely, i.e. less peak boost.

You should buy an apexi power fc or some kind of fuel computer cos if you up the boost without having the correct fueling you will definatley be in need of a rebuild  :flamed

I wouldn\'t turn it up on a standard ecu. The problem is they are totally untweakable, so there is no way to up the fuel when you up the boost.

So power fc is the way foward then.   Who is the best to map the fds then.

various choices but i am biased as i use re worx on the rolling road..but carl hayward is also by all accounts a very good choice..really is down to finding who u are happiest with...
