Title: Steering Wheel Height
Post by: framey on August 01, 2003, 01:09:26 AM
Hi,
Anyone know if it\'s possible to move the steering wheel up a little?
The numbers between 80 -> 140 are difficult to see unless I hunch down a bit.

About 1 - 1.5 inches should do it.
Thanks

If this is because you are a to tall most get around this by fitting a small steering wheel , one has even used a square wheel.

Don\'t think your going to lift to column far if at all with out some major welding because the bracket you need to alter ( just down from the indicator stork )   is attached directly to a "roll-bar" hoop that runs horizontally across the car , however if you do this please loosen the splinted shaft that runs near the Turbo\'s as the column will need to slide into this a bit more.

It would be a lot of work ( the dash will have to be cut as well to get the surrounds back on )
but anything is possible if you want to do it .

l have had a saying for years that there\'s no such word as can\'t!!.

Hope this helps.

All the best Clive

Clive dont suppose u can give any further details on what would need doing can you, if previous description didn\'t cover everything already (went over my head as i no jack;)) but i\'m guna ask this place on Monday how much it would cost to do this & extend seat runners as after a testdrive i found the driving position horrible both with the steering wheel being too low down & my knees having to bend too much :( So wood need to budget for such modifications but wana know what to mention when i try & get a quote?
Cheers boss
