Title: Sonar FD Rear light cluster help...
Post by: turbomaz on July 18, 2005, 02:21:11 PM
Well this is really going to sound hard to explain without a piccy but i will try..

Having bought these rx8 style lights i seem to have run into a problem fitting them.

The old lights on the car to get off just slide out via male connectors on the body of the car, now the new lights i have seem to have the male connectors build onto the lights (with screws) so no way i can fit male to male to fit them onto the car.

Seen these style lights on plenty of pics here so i cant be the only one who has had this problem am i ??? any solutions would be great thank you.

Simon..

Hi mate,

Best bet is to send a PM to one of the guys who\'s got them on their cars (see members rides section).  Not got them myself so no help I\'m afraid.

hi the new lights dont slide in the way you take the originals in out position the rx8 style light unit to the mounting holes and then gently give them a bang with your hand they then snap into place.

Sorry to bump such an old thread but this is the problem I\'m having, how do you remove the male connectors on the body of the car - do they just pull out?  They feel like they\'re gonna break :Nono!

you slide the male connectors off the rx8 light, then slide the light unit back onto the original connectors on the car

I worked it out in the end (well closed my eyes and hoped for the best :Laugh )

Just for reference - the new lights don\'t use the orginal connectors. You need to pull the male connectors out of the car (they literally just pull forwards out) and then the headlight just pushes into place - they don\'t slide in like the originals

Here\'s a pic of the connectors alongside originals:
