Title: Difference between 1999+ RB, RB-S (265bhp) and Type-R etc (280bhp)?
Post by: Ozzy_B on July 13, 2005, 08:29:06 PM
This is regarding post 1999 RX7s, what gives the type-r, type rz etc which all have 280bhp, the extra 15bhp over the RB & RB-S which have 265bhp? Is it just the stock ecu program that is different? I do know that the type-r etc have twin oil coolers compared to single on the RB & RB-S, if that makes any difference??

Reason I ask is a mate of mine may be selling his 1999 RB-S soon and im not sure wheather to buy that or look around and try to find a 1999+ type-r/rz which have a higher spec as standard.

Yer thats what ive read, I was assuming that all post 1999 RX7s had the uprated turbos, increased boost, reduced backpressure and a whole lot of other things that was included in the 1999+ RX7 upgrade. Is it just certain sportier 1999+ models (type-r, rz etc) that have the uprated extras, but not the RB or RB-S of the same year?
