Title: Buying a 3rd gen
Post by: Mark 626GT on July 13, 2005, 01:32:06 PM
Hi, hope someone can help with some random questions.

I am looking at buying an import 3rd gen RX7 (FD I believe) auto that was made in 93.  It has fairly low miles and seems in good condition.
First what sort of price would you expect to pay roughly for one of these from a private garage?

Is there anything I need to look at when considering buying the car?

The car is an auto, which I am not very happy about, what are these boxes like?  Would it be a massive job to put a manual box in?

Cheers

Don\'t go the auto->manual conv route - it\'s really not worth it when there\'s so many manuals available!

(Speaking as someone who sold my 300ZX manual drivetrain to someone doing just that... and the 300ZX I had before that was a manual conversion anyway, which is why the clutch boost was never quite right!)

Firstly if you dont want an Auto then buy a manual to start with, plenty of choice about...

price wise, it depends on mileage and if its had a rebuild or not.... could be anything from 4k to 7-8k
