doing my head in.
There\'s nothing wrong with my coolant levels at all. Take off the filler neck cap and the colant is visible, check the expansion tank plenty in there. However the coolant buzzer is giong off all the bloody time, well pretty often anyhow. I even had the engine on and the coolant buzzer going off. Took off the cap and red hot coolant came spluttering out, so it was right up to the top of the neck but still buzzing like a pice of crap.
what the **** is up with it?
surely the buzzer is a relay, maybe its knackered? replace it or just take it out permenantly and leave it out:)
Might be the low water sender going bad i.e. the one on the front of the filler neck about 6 inches down from the cap.
thats what I thought, all looked pretty well intact though when I checked it out. I had to drive for 45mins with it going off today.
Christ that has to be doing your nut! There was a procedure for testing it, just can\'t remember what it was. I\'d try disconnecting it to see if it either goes off constantly or stays quiet. If there\'s no change (i.e. if it still comes on intermittently) then the problem must lie elsewhere. Might be worth earthing the wire to the block or something to see if it goes off then aswell.
I\'ll do that, cheers matey.
I\'ve had exactly the same problem since last Weds mate, only I havn\'t been able to find the club website untill now, the addy must have changed from .co.uk (saved in my faves) to .com?? Thought the place had dissapeared!
Anyway, I checked the wire from the filler neck and it only controlled the temp gauge, buzzer still carried on!
Do you know where the low level sender is located, a mate says they\'re usually in the expansion bottle.
If you\'re using the car and want to shut the noise up temporarilly, do what I\'ve done.
Get your head in the drivers footwell and look up at the wiring, you\'ll see a black plastic box about 6x2" with a sticker on it. There\'s a connector block either end and one in the middle, pull the middle one out (9 pin connector I think).
That stops the bloody noise, but on the downside.......
the windows wont go down LOL!
Keep me posted if you find anything :-)
The one with the single wire coming out of it on the front of the filler neck is the low level sensor. The temperature senders are on the back of the filler neck, tucked away out of sight underneath the boost pipe.
Ahh, I assumed it was the temp sensor because I pulled the connector block apart that the single wire goes to under the boost pipe and that killed the temp gauge, but not the buzzer!
I\'ll strip a bit of the insulation and try earthing the single wire tomo, that should knock out the buzzer and prove that the sensor is knackered hopefully.
Try earhing it to see if it is the level sensor as suggested. Another possibility is:- There is a connector under the power steering pump (single wire) that if split will make the buzzer go off continually (can only be seen from underneath!)
When i put my engine back together my mate forgot to connect this up, and the buzzer wouldn\'t go off, obviously i thought i had an air lock in the coolant system and drained / refilled it a couple of times.
Another sensor is located next to the oil pressure sender (below oil filter). This is a single wire again tied into the main loom. Check that that\'s not worked its way loose either.
Cheers
Jon
have you changed the plugs recently?? strange question i know but the wire for the coolant buzzer/sensor connects the the loom down the back of the power steering and aircon pumps, its a pain to find but if its not attached then the buzzer will go off intermitantly.

Yep, thats the one...
Nice one guys!
I checked the connector behind the power steering resevoir today and sure enough the single wire was broken off (just about hanging on).
Re-connected it and all has been well since, so fingers crossed.
Good info\', thanks!
mine has just stopped so I\'m just gonna pretend it never happened.
aaaaghhh its back again!!!!!!!
went out, drove about 15 miles --- fine, parked her up went and did some shopping and stuff, came back got about 3 miles and
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
goddamn it, it came and went during my drive but came more than it went. Parked it up went into my restaurant, did a few tasks got back in, no buzzer, half a mile later
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
damnit. Parked it, waited for it to cool down fully, opened the filler neck cap, full to the brim. Checked the expansion tank, full.
I\'m proper annoyed with this now. there seems to be nothing wrong with the low level send and I\'m just lost. Don\'t want to disconnect it because I know I\'ll just forget about it and then one day I really will be low on coolant.
Sorry not really looking for help just looking to vent some frustration.
Have you already tried this:
Cleaning the low level sender contacts (front of the filler neck). That sorted mine out.

I hate to resurface such an old thread, but I\'ve tried finding this wire for ages!
Got the coolant ligh and buzzer problem thats just started after i got the plugs cleaned and filter changed. Mecchie did fiddle around with the plugs for ages so I immediately assumed he\'d knocked a wire.
Search brought out this thread.
Is this the same wire mentioned above that can only be seen from undeneath the car?
The only wire I can find that isn\'t connected to anything is white and brown coloured, and it had some insulating tape left on...
Can\'t believe how loud that damn sound is!!!
Cheers.
haha - me too! http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28876
I guess i better read all this thread now!
I think this may be my problem: one of those wires. I had trouble identifying which wire went to the oil pressure sensor, and which to the temp sensor. Maybe i have these muddle up. I alsi have a spare one because i have dropped my air con - but maybe this is the wrong one! So i have three cables that may all be connected up to the wrong thing! Is there anyone who can identify the colours of temp sender, oil pressure and air con?
from Memory (maybe wrong) water is yellow and white. oil press is grey and red. Not sure on air-con
Cheers Ross, i\'ll check it out.
Bugger! Broke the cable (currently) going to the temp sensor - that was white and brown!?! Took the cable off the oil pressure switch and couldn\'t tell what colour it was cos it is sheathed in insulating tape - so in the morning will stick it on the temp sensor and see if the buzzer goes off then.
Okay mate found this post over on rx7club too.
http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=528019 (http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=528019&highlight=coolant+buzzer)
So you put the white/brown wire onto the temp sensor and it didnt work?
Damn guess ima have to locate another wire then.
Can you tell me exactly where the temp sensor is, even after reading the posts i\'m a bit blind :2Confused
btw. Are you able to get at these cables from above w/o removing the elbow, or are you looking from underneath?
I\'ll reply again in a bit. Guests have jsut arrived :Hammer
Thanks
again from memory (maybe wrong, but unlikely :)) the brown and white goes through the loom and joins to the black water level sender on the termostat housing.
Ok, i found out that there\'s a black plug and white plug (behind the power steering pump/air con compressor) that are meant to be connected together, which weren\'t - but are now! :) But i still have the alarm, which i guess i would do since i broke the white and brown wire, so still can\'t proove that everything is hunky dory!
Fancy a trip to Bristol Ross!? :D
So, hang on - if i have white/brown connected to the temperature sendor sensor by the oil pressure switch, is that wrong? I think it is, isn\'t it!?
grrr....bloody electrics!
yellow and white goes to water sender near oil pressure sender.
Brown and white connects to spade connector in the loom, which then goes onto the water level sender on the thermostat.
call me if you want I\'m still at the workshop.
Cheers - I won;t at the mo, as like i said, i\'ve broken the brown and white cable, so until i fix that (tomorrow morning), there\'s no point in me continuing.
Thanks for the offer - may cal in the morning though (if you\'re there! :))
Sweet lads that\'s narrowed it down for me.
Your memory seems spot on Ross :King
Gettin a bit dark out so gonna have a butchers in the morning.
Brown/White wire to spade in loom...
Okay I\'ve tried to find the connecter but no luck at all!
Here\'s a quick pic of where I\'m looking, you can see the white/brown wire pretty much in the middle.

Thanks
Ok, i got my buzzer to go off, so now have a bit of expereince with this. The temp sensor gauge plug needs to be plugged in - this is the white/brown wire, it comes off the loom that is coming off the back of the engine and going towards the bulk head. If you locate the oil pressure switch (Right above the rear most HT plugs) - it\'s cylindrical in shape - the temp sensor is located right besdie this sensor. It\'s really small and close to the engine. It\'s on the head light side of the oil pressure sensor. Very difficult to see - easier to feel.
Then there are 2 cables that need to be plugged together that are behind the power steering pump/air con compressor. On the american forums they say its a white plug and black plug, but i actually found that they\'re both black on mine (There is a white plug though!!) hope that helps.
Just taken the elbow off to give me a bit more room to play with, gonna give this a shot now!
Wish me luck :WaveBye
Okay...
It\'s too dark too see much now, so I\'m up at the crack of dawn now to sort this out.
After strugglin to find it I\'m convinced mine doesnt exist now :p
I\'ve had a read and a looked at the piccies on this post of your\'s too.
http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28252
Still can\'t locate that. Found the white plugs, etc, and i they\'re connected.
One thing that troubles me is the length of the wire. If you have a look at the piccy above then the white/brown wire is kinda short, and there\'s no where for it to go. So unless that other wire that I can\'t find is pretty long then I don\'t really hav a clue.
One end of the w/b wire, thats closest to the PS reservoir is in the loom, (black pipe thing) and the other side doesnt havea connector, so could this have been pulled off?
Thanks again
There\'s no way in hell that you don\'t have a coolant temp sensor: it\'s just a bugger to find. You really can\'t see it - you might possibly be able to see it if you know what you\'re looking for, otherwise, you\'ve got to feel for it. I have done this all today, so I know!
Lol I know mate, I was just talking crap, hence the :p
I\'ll have to have another look.
But the size of this wire still concerns me. It\'s pretty short, and was covered in insualting tape. Could it simply have been taped somewhere to ground it?
Which is a question in itself. Where would I tape it to ground it (if at all possible?) :Hammer
Now then.
Grounding that little wire seemed to do the trick :evillaugh
Not the best of solutions but seeing as i\'m off to a meet in a bit it\'l do to keep me sane.
I reckon it was previously ground also, as the wire is very short, and theres no sign of it\'s partner anywhere :(
Long term: gonna havta locate that little connecter and join a new wire to it. Will be a bit difficult I guess, is removing the oil(?) pipes that are in the way the only method of cleanly gaining access to this spot?
No, you can gain access to it with just the intake elbow removed. It is a bugger to find though! I made myself a little extension cable yesterday, to aid me connecting to it, i would advise doing something similar. Say about 15cm long - you can use normal male and female electrical spade connectors to do this.
Ah, here we go: I have found i have a picture of my engine out, with the temp gauge sensor circled. This should help you a lot.
Bloomin \'eck that is a small bit!!!
Is that round bit just above and to the right where the oil filter get\'s plonked on?
I reckon I will have to attempt this with a new wire thats connected to the sensor then get a couple of spade connectors from maplins.
nik mate :god
Absolute leg end!
