Title: Turbo timer good way to overcome potential flooding coming out of short garage?
Post by: scooby_si on July 30, 2003, 08:37:24 AM
As in bit worried about the potential for flooding when i come out the garage in the morning in that i only go a dozen yards or so before i turn off & lock up. now i\'ve done the lurking thing on a few of the flooding, spark plugs etc threads but i just wondered if any of you just set a turbo timer so it\'s running while you do whatever & then just come back & carry on?
I know there maybe cat1 security implications ;) with a TT but if it saves me having to bugger about with the joys of flooding (when i get a RX7) then i\'m sold :D

Hello Chap

I have two TT fitted, one I can set for anytime I like, though I have never tried locking the doors with it running cos i tend to use.......

The clifford CAT 1 alarm i have fitted with the TT option, I can set this time to what I want it, lock the doors and piss of for a couple of minutes safe in the knowledge the car is secure

Point One- its better for the car if you warm it up by driving slowly
rather than sitting at idle for ages
Point 2 - can\'t see any CAT 1 issues as its part of the CAT 1 alarm

as long as the car is running for a few minutes its very unlikely you will flood it if you start it again

yeah i wasn\'t 100% with the cat1 thing but my understanding was they did invalidate it  but anyway i have one as part of my defi HUD i have on me scooby at the minute but i dont use it (& havent installed it) as i\'m happy to sit there while it cools down ;) but i\'m definately taking that out as it is one of my favourite toys & in a similar way to not RX7 my scooby has no places to mount gauges so HUD is boss :D
But back on track TT just seemed good so i ddint have to turn off & on for the minute while im locking garage etc back up in order to avoid flood risking
Cheers for that thou i may get them to do a fubnky alarm thing when i get it installed after importing from Japan presuming i do it that way ;)

Whats the HUD system you\'ve got? saw one ages ago but forgotton who made it.
One i saw just displayed speed, maybe rev\'s as well. What does yours do?

Any web-site links would be great!

Cheers

yeah there are a few mine is the boost gauge & TT as per this nice link (http://www.defi-shop.com/product/vsd/bt/bt_top.htm)  :D
I luv \'em as in addition to being a bit of a funky toy & a bit different it is also pretty hot as it\'s wherever you want it on windscreen so no need to take eyes off the road safety device ;)

Cheers, was wondering where to put a boost gauge! seems like a good option.

Where abouts did you get yours from? they\'ve got a few shops listed on the website but not many with web pages, and the ones that have havent got any prices:(

yeah that was the other bonus as i have the older style scoob interior with no real easy locations for gauges so that avoids such an issue which is seemingly the case on the RX7 aslo ;)
I managed to get mine 2nd hand off scoobynet :D but the suppliers i know of that do them are Nitosport (http://www.nitosport.co.uk/n2/)  & slightly cheaper the last time i looked was scoobymania (http://www.scoobymania.co.uk/interior_info.asp?c=2)
Si (giving away all my secrets just dont show off too mich if you get one i like to be individual :p lol)
