I second that! :burnout :D :D :D :D :D :3gears-rh
i third that!!!
hahaaaa
ive developed a hatred for them :reallymad
i was happy with mine on friday, but today i hate the thing!
Finally got it started after rebuilding it over the last 6 months, there have been some highs and lows during that time, but i was saved by some bad luck on my cousins part as his workshop was due to be sold and i was going to have to move my car from there before it was running. Lucky for me and unlucky for him, the sale fell through last minute which gave me a stay of execution. Needless to say, i pulled my finger out and got on with it.
Anyway, back to topic, started it friday and got that little buzz of excitement when it starts after you have built it. Then today, it wouldnt start at all and i tried everything, seems like there is a very week spark or no spark which i will have to look further into.
So today i hate it!!
mmm
make sure you have a very good earth between the motor and the body.
Hi,
yea, done that, i have earth wires everywhere!! one to the ignitor, one to each coil, several on the engine!!
Is it possible to knacker an Ignitor box by running the car without it being bolted and properly earthed?
If you have too many earths you can cause a reverse current effect you know....
how does that work then.. i was always told you shold make sure evry thing is well earthed.
Managed to start it today, it was both leading plugs completely clogged an giving off no spark!! gunked up with cooked on residue from the rebuild. That vasoline is sticky stuff you know!
I cant remember exactly how, I\'d have to look it up in one of my old text books. Basically I think it can create an inductance effect in reverse of the positive charge, effectively blocking off some areas of the circuit. All ways try to get your earths going to the same point on the chassis too, or at least to the same panel/bulkhead.
fcs arent that great, cos they rust too much, its gonna cost 300 quid for me (including trailoring costs) for it to be welded, the dudes going to have to fabricate some bits and bobs like that front cross member, jacking point etc etc.
Nobady ever said they were light on your wallet mate. You\'ve probably saved £10,000 in fuel cos its been layed up! ;)
How much more needs doing once the welding is done? £300 doesnt seem like a bad price to me, how long are they having the car for?
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmm rusty rex - sounds about right
save the 300 - buy a welder and DIY it - i managed it so anyone should bebale to !!
and at £300 - it CANT be that bad - get some pics up so we can all look
And keeping this on track - im happy with mine at the mo :)
Stu / Grinder
uber old thread...
(hey, i got nothing else to do right now)
agree. they are the cats titties!! when they work!
when they dont work their a pile of steaming poo!

Ha ha! Yeah i love mine! At the moment but that can change as easy as the wind does!
When she\'s clean and tidy and working well i.e 90% of the time, i LOVE her to bits!
Other 10% of the time i curse and swear at her and sometimes even think of selling her!:Grrr:2Mad:spank.............. even though i never would! Ha ha ha!:Giggle
Bleedin hell, do you just go around all day digging up old threads Liam?
And yes FC\'s are the muts nuts
why dont we find the oldest thread thats still valid, ie someone who maybe started a rebuild in 2005 and is still rebuilding it!!! Be interesting to find out who is still doing what after all this time. I have one or two people in mind but i need to do some digging first
i loved them....after this weekend, neither of my two work :\'(
I just love both of mine !!.....................think the love outweighs the shear hatred and bitterness that they have put me through over the years, but its like your kids.........you forgive them in the end. lol
