I was having a poke around under the bonnet earlier while I was changing the drive belts and started wondering about a few mods I\'d read about on Rob Robinettes site
First I started looking at disabling the double throttle (http://robrobinette.com/double_throttle.htm) it sounds like a good idea to me , anything that improves air flow has to be a good thing right ?
Whilst taking off the throttle body it makes sense to remove the throttle body coolant (http://robrobinette.com/throttle_body_coolant.htm) , this has to help lower intake temps a bit
The last thing I was wondering was what are the benfits of disabling the EGR (http://robrobinette.com/egr.htm) apart from making sure it dosen\'t stick open ?
Anither couple of quickies for you as well , on the back of the stock intake elbow theres an outlet about 20-25mm thats blacked off , whats it for ??? and where is the best place to install an air temp sensor ??
The air temp sensor relates to this thread (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15989) , is fuel drop out likley to happen ? and would it be worth installing a temp gauge temporary untill I get the Apexi ?
The j-spec and (I think) UK spec cars don\'t have EGR. asp has completely removed the double throttle and ported the UIM right out, have a look for his thread on here. That bung on the back of the intake elbow has got something to do with the AWS on US spec cars, again it\'s not used on j-spec cars.
Here\'s the thread:

Just found this little gadget , looks like it would work out cheaper than a couple of extra gauges , problem is I don\'t think it will fit on my car as its a 95 found a bit of info on it else where and it says it will only fit on a post 96 car
Surely it would be possible to swap the diagnostic port from a 95 to a 96 one with a bit of soldering , does that sound like a plan ??
dont know if it would be that easy as the 95 model uses an 8 bit ecu and the 96 - uses a 16 bit, there are also some other slight changes. You have to check exacly what model yours is as with imports date tend not to be qute as exact.
