Title: The Ultimate FD!
Post by: Donato on July 08, 2005, 01:03:15 PM
Just for fun, I would like you to tell us what your ultimate spec FD would look like and have inside it.

Basically if money was no object, just say you won the lottery, what would your mods be for creating the ultimate FD???  :chat

Cheers

Donato

Trying to get ideas incase the euromillions rolls in Donato? :D

Joking aside I always think about this, when i\'ve got a spare 20 mins I write up a decent reply, although the spec is always changing :D

Right now,
my ultimate FD would be one that hasn\'t just detonated and broken a rotor tip............
apart from that im not fussy, its such a GREAT car as standard anyway!

I think Glenn\'s monster-in-the-build would be a good base car for mine :D

gotta say there isnt much Id change on my own rex although Id have it rebuilt again just for piece of mind... Id probably go with a front mount intercooler and many more engine mods but trying to keep it reasonably sensible, I think something close to 400bhp would be fine  looks wise, a new set of rims would be about it... someone has done all the work on the car I own now which is great because its exactly how I envisioned it to be before I even saw it for sale ;) (Oh Id change the carbon bonnet into a vented carbon bonnet)

Good post donato!!! :D

Out of all the fd\'s about at the moment......i would have re-amemiyas gt300 car, and the apexi drift car........i think those 2 are my favourite fd\'s.

As for my ulitmate fd.....

4 rotor, 2 big sequential turbo\'s, wide arches (maybe the new veilside kit.......dan waits for a spanking from other users :eek  :D )

I would also like it to do 30mpg when booting it :D

ultimate FD????? hmmm, I\'h have to say ultimate FC myself!

BUT if pressed......
shortblock 3 rotor big bridgeport
1 HUGE single turbo (possibly off a large ship!)
FMIC
MOTEC ECU
1200cc injectors all round
uprated pumps x3 (one for the swirl pot and one on each fuel line)
RE-A AD9 hood
R Magic wide arch kit
Volk GT-P 17x11 rears 17x9 fronts
Tein coilovers with the electronic adjustment gizmo
six speed dogbox
Cusco tripple plate 6 puck clutch
uprated diff (not sure where from-but would need to be a bit serious)

i suspect there would be a few more things too

Very good post, had me thinking for a few seconds...

I have to say stock 2001 Type R Bathurst R, with:
- Decat and RB dual tip, so it doesn\'t sound like a washing machine
- Accelerator pedal extension, \'cos the stock one\'s too far from the brake
- Nicely integrated half-cage and harness
- A lifetime ticket at the Nurburgring

That\'s it! I\'m very happy with my car at the moment, but if I could swap it for the above I would without hesitation.

F*ck me that\'s beautiful... lose the wing and the stickers, get some clear lights, and that\'s the best looking modded FD I\'ve seen. Really coherent.

Bet it breaks down every five minutes, rides like a brick and weighs two tonnes tho\'...

My ****ter makes a lazy 330-ish at the wheels (single turbo/low boost) - and makes 93db on noise test. Phils I think we tested at 95-96, 450hp+

You need very careful exhaust selection to retain power with reasonable silencing.

They dont have to make a lot of noise - just that most exhausts people put on them are the wrong ones if they want stealth!

Well, if money is no option why not have a one-off Carbon-Kevlar bodyshell made to whatever aero style you wish. Titanium twin exhaust exiting on either side of the car just before the rear wheels like the Dodge Viper.
Interior wise, just keep it to the two seats, a dash more like the new RX8 with Defi gauges and a decent 6 speaker sound system.
Wheels: 18" - not sure which though, its a large choice
Engine: Fast without going into the zone of unreliable (If there is such a thing!!)
Must have BIG discs all round with 6 pot calipers, at least.

it is a bit sharp looking  but i like it  for the sake thats its a bit of art  well to me anyway  as all of the Panels have been re  sculpted  insted of just sticking on  a faberglass kit.But  i must say i am the only 1 that   has ever liked it i think lol  :D

I think I\'d have to have 2 as ultimate to me means ultimate track and ultimate road...

For the road car I\'d keep it subtle with arounf 450rwph.  Nothing outrageous but all creature comforts inside... Leather, climate, dvd, autopilot, Volk Challenge SF rims.  I\'d go with a hooej flip paint, poss the green/purple TVR colour.

For track I\'d import one of the JGTC cars.  Pretty much any of them would do me.

Then (as money\'s no limit) I\'d get Carl to build me a quad turbo\'d block to sit in an ultima an see what 800bhp would do in one of them...

Nice one Dan,

slightly off..
Think the main thing for me is that dont matter what motor i could get id still want an FD to blast around in......b****y things a pain in the rear at times but on a good day it dont get much better. left hander around 120mph in the wet at GTB made my year. So nice to drive.

Anyway, most these kitted jobs are good as long as they keep the lines of the machine..... so a hard as nails, full on JGTC in crazy paint and as loud as you want pls.....roll on next year!!
